One of the best things I have done to help alleviate some of the crippling imposter syndrome I have. PhDs are a hard journey and there is ZERO point in suffering in silence. I really recommend any higher education people embrace this! 👩🏽🔬 #WomeninSTEM @unisouthampton @SoCoBioDtp
Small-group workshops create space for postgraduate researchers to share ways to manage stress, impostor syndrome, feelings of isolation and student-supervisor relationships. Jo Haszczyn & Johanna Fish (UoS) write for THE Campus.

I’ve decided halogen-lithium exchanges are my new favourite reactions purely based on colour 🍎🍊 #chemistry #phdlife @UoSChemistry

@ZJAyres @sotonbiosci @sotonbsps Thanks so much! I think it’s hard in an academic setting (I don’t have enough experience elsewhere to comment) to engage openness and attendance on mental well-being activities, so I really hope engaging with smaller activities will help build up support networks 🤞🏼

So proud to have been a part of this! It’s important to talk and to build a supportive network during your PhD: round 2 of mine has certainly been more successful because of it. Hopefully this can become a widespread practice everywhere @unisouthampton @UoSDocCollege 👀 👩🏽🔬🧪🧬
Delighted to announce @SoCoBioDtp's new reflexivity initiative to support PhD student wellbeing is published in eLife. Read more here and the our ambitions to embed reflexivity into post-graduate research programmes both nationally and internationally.

Really recommend any PGRs who will be presenting at some point to practice here- I’m horribly anxious and it helps to have constructive feedback from people who aren’t your peers. Plus the team are so lovely 🥰 still think I need to work on my presentation face…

@drbecki_n @TomkinsKate It makes it significantly less scary when you present to people who are nerdy 😎
