@fraud_lord55 @marianochest @Kasparov63 The rus part of kievan rus doesn't refer to Russia! Russia basically the Golden Horde pretending to be Slavic. "Kievan Rus" made up term by Russians to back propagate mythology of origins to hide their barbarism Rus = land but proto finnic for rowers- Oleg was Viking

@davidaxelrod @POTUS It's the kind of week that one in the know might long for Mike Royko to still be alive and writing a column about it.

@MelindaPerry_56 @buie_brad @JohnRalstonSaul Truth. And the entire concept that violent Revolution was acceptable. This also led to civil war. We've been a bellicose nation for essentially our entire history.

@buie_brad @snowmanonfire @JohnRalstonSaul U.S. didn't become important until after civil war with the influx of massive immigration.

@buie_brad @JohnRalstonSaul Independence significantly premised on coming effect of the case of Somerset v Stewart (1772) (essentially finding that slavery was prohibited by common law.)

@FadedNobility @razibkhan @JuliusEbola23 Geography, isolation, population size & sampling, and time all affect "genetic similarity". We basically nothing about Hurrian genetics. But language was non Indo-European. Etruscans did not interact w/ Hurrians. Etruscans did interact w/ Latins but language different!

What is meaning of "price stability" which is half of @federalreserve mandate? Surely O% is more stable than 3%? Even -1% is more stable than 2%. But price stability must also include dispersion not just point estimate. Is O% +/- 2% less stable than 2% +/- 0.5%?
JUST IN: US inflation remains a problem. Inflation ticked up to 3% (y/y) in January --> the highest since June. The monthly gain was 0.5% --> above expectations Rent made up 30% of the increase. Gas and food also contributed. "Core CPI" which excludes food and gas rose 3.3%. Core CPI has basically stalled since June.

@DutchRojas US docs are paid twice as much as their European counterparts. There is likely too much bureaucracy but the suggestion that physicians are underpaid is patently ridiculous.

@VPrasadMDMPH Good points but 1. There is no way to know if research will replicate in advance. 2. Use 99.7% instead of 95% CIs; this is bullshit detector. 2. For every proposed experiment - 2nd independent lab agrees to also do the experiment. 4. There can't be penalties for finding nothing.
