I find the idea that had David Miliband won the Labour leadership in 2010 that the Party would have faired substantially better in 2015 to be strange. He shares a lot of the same flaws with his brother in his public demeanour and the policies would have been worse.

Only five of Britain’s post-war PMs have not held postgraduate degrees. Three of which (Churchill, Callaghan and Major) never attended university. Brown was the only one of those that did attend university not to go to Oxford as well as the only PM to attain a PhD.

The math didn’t really math, but Cameron was also just a much better personal match for Clegg anyways. Clegg was to the right of his party economically, and Cameron was to the left of his socially. So invariably a good deal of overlap. 🤷‍♂️

I think this sums up the 2010 and 2015 GEs for Labour. Debt bad is a more effective argument than explaining that national debt is not inherently bad and can be managed down gently.

Campaign review so far Keir Starmer 7/10 - Minimised blunders and generally looked Prime Ministerial and relatable. Ed Davey 6/10 - Playing the fool for publicity, but has done well when given it. Nigel Farage 6/10 - Dominated campaign for a week, but tailed off a bit. (1/2)

This is likely bait, but it still annoys me every time I see it. Churchill was undoubtedly a strong figurehead throughout the war, for which he deserves credit, but he certainly didn’t win it. Also, this disregards Attlee’s immense contribution to the war effort too.
