Nadine always writes brilliantly with real insight to female athletes Some gems in this “The game doesn’t seem to be attractive enough any longer” “… studies show that when a feeling of being undervalued arises that person intends to look for a new challenge within 12 months”

@okayjulia @womensrugbydata @rugbyevolved Noooo!! Our players LOVE balancing a job, driving 4 hours to training & getting home at 1am only to be up for work at 7am!!

👇 We can replicate & better this in Ireland ✅ Harness the work done around the country ✅ Union & community investment in entities where athletes are based ✅ Attract 10% athletes outside traditional structures Athletes are there Just need to build homes to attract them
It's no coincidence that an England under-20 winger is leading @ThePWR try scoring charts eight years since the league launched. Union and club investment + solid domestic set-up = red-hot supply lines to the national team 🚀🌹

This is the second athlete to leave the AIL for the Prem THIS month Our customers are voting with their feet They ain’t buying what we are selling We need a competition structure that attracts & retains athletes The current interpro / AIL / Celtic Challenge isn’t it

To be fair, this is any start-up & unless you’ve been in it, it can difficult to comprehend It soaks so much energy & it depletes you - mentally, physically, emotionally The good ones know when it’s time to go You need a break or a new challenge Reckon Wales got a good one
Intriguing words from Belinda Moore, who faced the media this afternoon for the first time in her new role as the WRU's women's lead. Left her position as PWR CEO because she needed to take "a bit of a breather".

@okayjulia @WelshWomenRugby More than happy to contribute I believe we could have a better league than the PWR if we did it properly Esp given the # of female athletes in 🇮🇪, the relatively easier travel required & the sports-mad parochial nature of the island With 2 international teams to aspire to

Enjoyable few days with @ClonakiltyRFC before our AIL game We ran a guest session for adult & U18s teams on Friday night Followed by a session on coachability & teambuilding on Saturday Some super talented young athletes Motivated & caring off-field leadership too 🙌

Phenomenal athlete, phenomenal person Better player than when she last played with Ireland & the best player in Ireland for the last three years Still more than capable of international rugby… is there a WC coming up?!! Searingly honest interview too 🙌
One of Ireland's most decorated athletes on her player/coach role with @RFCRailwayUnion and her rugby journey so far...she's not for stopping! #EnergiaAIL More:

One of many reasons we should build homes for the ‘uninvited guests’ The customer (player) & audience (fan base) for women’s rugby is different from men’s rugby We’ve a huge opportunity to grow our sport by building for them
Ilona Maher post match was simply excellent ✨✨ "In men’s sports, you have a lot of male fans - especially in rugby - it’s a boy’s club. You have a lot of old men going to their team’s game. Can we get more women in, buying our jerseys? Women have power, women have influence."

“In truth, little has changed since the days of Will Carling’s ‘57 old farts’ comment. Committee figures are still making their political powerplays without those responsible being brave enough to publicly own their actions.” Plus ça change
