Got out of the hospital last week and I've been getting back in the work groove. Doing much better than I was in September-Oct 3rd.
There's a lot of messages I slipped on but I appreciate the concern.
25 years ago today,
@TomFulp
was dickin around with "New Ground Remix" in his parent's bedroom for shits and giggles, and wound up making something that fosters countless creative journey's to this day 🆖
Artists/Elon/Twitter;
In 2012, during one of the worst financial years for Newgrounds; there were still offers from investors at this point & an option worth considering.
Rather than take the money blindly, Tom opened a discussion w/ the community about the pros/cons of this--
Back when I made the Tankmen voting bar icons on NG, I felt sad to see Pico get retired and actually did some icons for him. It was low priority and driven by nostalgia, but the recent relevancy makes the idea more appealing
FNF Weekend 1 just dropped!
A retail Boyfriend Figure that I sculpted was released alongside the update 🚫
The Kickstarter exclusive version is still in production despite setbacks and delays on my part; here’s the samples that are getting tweaked
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the
#newgrounds
automated Portal; the first system on the internet that allowed users to share their games/movies to a site and forever set the trend of user-generated content on the web as we know it today.
(art by Pegosho)
The root of the new COPPA rules also rests on them exploiting user data; an angle that NG never resorted to using gain profit.
Newgrounds doesn’t pull the sort of COPPA eligible data, and it’s been a reliable home for online animation since 95’
i was lookin for some shit and found this unfinished cabinet art from like, Pico Day 2019. LOOOONG story short things didn't got as planned lol, but I don't totally hate it
Its been said before and it keeps ringing true; those really tryhard wholesome plastic people ALWAYS have some skeletons in their closets. Every. fucking. time.
Re: industry vs indie animation
In the early 2000s, Newgrounds was THE major place for animation online; they implemented a donation feature where people could donate to creators and it got used by almost nobody.
Now in 2022, independent pilots got made through online support
These retail ones actually started at the beginning of FNF Demo/Week 1.
At the time, I told Dave it'd be some hilarious shit if we made a limited run of like 15 and never put out more just as a bit. But then we grew the fuck up and FNF took off for real
Nov 2020 Turnarounds
Theyre the a**holes that left all those mean comments about your game!!! People shouldnt say nasty things on the internet!!!! Freaking kids are using computers!

I know I just did this sort of post two days ago, but I BELIEVE in this shit I'm not gonna stop talking about it until we get the internet where it needs to be.
While you're out making new accounts, I think NG is a great long-term solution to check out, 22 years and counting.
Smash Menu is up, trimmed out those useless extras and at this point if it doesn't work for you I really don't give a shit, the .mp4 video link is in the description if you can read
Make a mindful effort about WHERE you post your art and think thoroughly about why you support the platforms with your content.
If they aren't looking out for you and are actively fucking you over, you need to ask yourself where your support is most valued
Hey we're doing an art jam on Newgrounds based around everyone's quarantine lives!
You can draw yourself in an isometric layout doing whatever's been keeping you busy indoors, deadline is Monday 30th and there'll be prizes for the top 3!
Right now on Newgrounds, the money people put into site goes right back into the community through Art Contests, Game Jams, commissioning artists for Skins/Banners, free Tablet giveaways, etc
We need to start controlling our own dollars and our time into constructive solutions
All came together into the final product, there’s things I’d do differently now but that’ll carry over into the GF Figurine.
The American Sonic line is here, and I was stoked to see the Japanese Sonic released last year!
This wild Newgrounds momentum lately is hitting a critical point where the demand is outpacing the support it needs to really bring this miracle to the next level.
If you're able to chip in, it'd be amazing to see this rise to the stars🆖

@Herschel
, the ingenious mind behind Swivel is making incredible headway on in-browser Flash Emulator!
Beyond the 2020 doomsday date, it'll be possible to play flash content in your browser, and phones, in some cases:
(this is like, MASSIVE)
Later on those people who controlled the money didn't like all the porn and a bunch of people got kicked out of their primary platform. That same site went on to get resold for 3 dollars
The shit happening at Netflix's animation department rn is a symptom of these practices
This thread goes on for pages, and there's a lot of constructive discussion about what that future could be.
For context: Tumblr was raising millions and having this awesome party, they later got bought by Yahoo for a billion dollars!!(WOAH)
It's frustrating that you can have a significant impact on the ecosystem of a website; the people that come here to find art- and have no agency in the decisions that may affect your livelihood.
Once upon a time some guy made a site where people made games and cartoons together. Then two guys from that site made a game about it.
My Portal Defenders piece for the

picooooo daaaay
toriyama banner i was supposed to hand-off to Mis-Mash for colors, but i love how well theirs came out and figured i'd just post this unfinished thing!
There's never gonna be an overnight migration, or some perfect art platform that just appears with MASS APPEAL, FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITIES & good infrastructure for artists.
But social media also wont stop running like a casino either, so all that's left is to build a better place
Newgrounds was funny when we were all 12 living in the suburbs listening to linkin park watching dragon ball z drinking pepsi while playing halo co op on the easiest setting during which we consumed doritos and looked at paintball guuuuuu... high res:
It's like building a great garden; it starts with planting the seeds, nurturing the plants, and eventually it'll bear great fruit.
Consider planting your seed;
There's prolly a dozen prototypes buried in files; matching the 2D profile from sideview, front, back, etc.. Seeing what made for a good silhouette but then reeling things back to work better at different angles.
Also week54 is ACTUALLY REAL and not just an easter egg
Holy fuck, holy fuck
I just realized getting McDonalds (2)4 piece nuggets are less expensive than ordering (1) 6 piece.
Price per nugget is lower on the 4 piece, pass this shit on
Scrapped Friday Night Funkin freeplay menu, they wanted something with the sensation overload of arcade ddr/eurobeat with a 2000s feel, but it ended up cluttered + missed the mark.
Way too Space Channel 5 and not enough Jet Set Radio, but the actual one works infinitely better!
I’m really happy to see the Newgrounds Toronto meet-up went so well!!
I wish I could’ve squeezed in time to metal-cast these new dog tags and sent a shipment over for everyone that showed up
did the NG promo art for the NG animation/music/art contest over on NG, featuring several NG characters. Of all NG jams, the NG jam is especially fitting considering NG's roots as an NG fanzine
I figured with all this extra quarantine time I'd try learning how to ANIMATE! This is my first Bouncing Ball animation test, kinda rough.. but it's a start XD. I think i'll try coloring it later, what do you think? owo
Figuring out a setup in Flash for compositing directional lighting for characters using only the base drawing and filters without drawn shadows. Best suited for 2D/3D hybrid work

If you feel embittered that 2D animation doesn't cultivate the same respect or validity as other forms of animation, supporting projects like this can really do a service to expand people's understanding and appreciation of it!!

New EXTENDED INTERVIEW with co-director of BROTHER BEAR, Aaron Blaise (

) will be sent to backers if we reach 100%! Help us make it happen!
I've been itching to use the word "Rhetoric" in a sentence for almost a month now, I'm gonna try my hardest to shift the conversation to a place where it's appropriate to use next time I talk to someone.
Also I got burnt out from animating and tried this, needs work!
We don't want a Ren & Stimpy Reboot.
We don't want an Avatar the Last Airbender Reboot.
We don't want an Animaniacs Reboot.
These executives need to just listen to their audiences and give us what we've been so desperately FUCKING asking for
Newgrounds is once again giving out free drawing tablets to artists on the site! If you're someone from NG in need of a new tablet, you should check out this newspost!
There's also an option to donate to this giveaway & help boost the total # of tablets!
I'm super grateful for the work and opportunities I have, it's just really peculiar that they all congregate around the SAME time. This pattern has happened on repeat in this supernatural fashion, but it's all cool shit that I love!
I'm not even gonna get snarky this time, but if you're a creative that's fed up with this shit, post on an alternative platform like Newgrounds. No algorithm, no hidden videos, no BS. Make an account, post your creations, and spread word (1/?)
@jpm_507
Just to clarify. We are currently experimenting with how to show content in the subs feed. We find that some viewers are able to more easily find the videos they want to watch when we order the subs feed in a personalized order vs always showing most recent video first.
It’s really easy to dump on the site for crashing from overwhelming traffic, but you’ve got to appreciate how much is being done with 3 active devs and fewer resources than most places you visit. It’s capable of doing SO much more than just surviving
Despite running at a loss, NG still managed to raise thousands that went back into art jams/contests, artist commissions, free drawing tablet giveaways, and bringing more features into the site. It does more than any other art platform proportionate to its size/resources
I still can't get over how younger people are discovering old internet media like Pico's School and being all down with it, this is the exact opposite thing I anticipated and it's cool as shit
I seriously can’t imagine what kind of destination it would be with even just a fraction of the resources so many of these trendy pop-up art sites burn. But it’s got the track record to show how it makes an effort to support the community however it can, with whatever it has
