Important COREPER II meeting today, as Permanent Representatives reached preliminary agreement on the draft Council Decision to lift internal land border checks with 🇷🇴Romania and 🇧🇬Bulgaria as of 1 January 2025. Formal adoption on JHA Council agenda on 12 December.
‼️ After last week’s successful ministerial meeting in Budapest , where 🇭🇺🇧🇬🇷🇴&🇦🇹 agreed on a border protection package, today marks a key step towards European integration and the #SchengenArea. Coreper has finalised the preparation of the Council Decision to lift internal land border checks with Bulgaria and Romania starting on 1 January, 2025. Formal adoption is expected by #JHA Council on 12 December. #HU24EU 🇭🇺🇪🇺
