Hey y’all, I’m so excited to share my first major online fiction publication! This short story of mine has been published by Lolwe. You can read it here:
This is the house that neoliberal black studies built. Blatant ahistoricism, digital caricature, and total ethical bankruptcy, all so folks can ‘feel good’. Enjoy!
These images, skillfully crafted by Cepéda Brunson using AI, highlight the liberating potential of artificial intelligence in addressing the scarcity of affirming images of black people in historical archives. While African Americans played a pivotal role in shaping the Old West,
Black gay men are not harder to love than any other gay man. This myth that we are uniquely difficult and require extra patience to be with is just more white supremacist programming IMO. If you want a white bae or a non-Black POC partner just say that.
I'm BEYOND excited to share that I've accepted my offer of admission for the African and African Diaspora Studies PhD at UT Austin (🤘🏽), making me the first in my family to pursue their doctorate! I'm going to be a doctor, y'all!!!🥲
The black middle class will always disavow the plight of the common black to uplift their own, because allegiance to empire requires complete cultural and historical amnesia.
"American Fiction" Oscar-winner Cord Jefferson on what the film's success means: "There is a market for depictions of Black life that are as broad and as deep as any other depictions of people's lives"

Your gift has little to do with the fact that this painting is deeply fetishistic and feeds into the same objectifying cultural norms that reduce black men to sex toys and, more importantly, sent your muse D’Angelo into a decade-long addiction spiral. Consider that instead.
"There were Black people who were triggered by seeing something that they weren't ready to admit to themselves." Justice Smith talks about the focus group reaction to "The American Society of Magical Negroes."
Y’all forget that white people also read those asinine viral tweets where niggas over-explain every facet of the ‘black experience’. Why would you make the culture vultures’ jobs that much easier?
Let's not make broad generalizations to prove a point. Monkeypox has absolutely not gone away, it did not/does not "largely effect" gay men because it is not a ‘gay’ virus, and COVID is a governmental failure, not an individual problem. Thank you.
It went away because the community it was largely effecting all went and got vaccinated immediately and followed health/safety protocols. Unlike what folks did with Covid.
Now let’s not lie. Y’all can hate Azealia Banks all you want but to pretend like she isn’t an incredibly versatile lyricist with a distinct aesthetic that the girls continue to jock is deeply serious.
“[I] would love to leave this dreadful country. Beyond its wealth there is a hollow core at the center of America that is frightening, an amnesia about history.”
—Gloria Naylor, 2003 email correspondence
The stark difference between Imani Perry’s nuanced, meticulously researched essay about Gayl Jones and Hilton Als’ “review” (if you can call it that) of her latest work is kind of mind-boggling and incredibly sad.
