The 75th Anniversary Iowa All State Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Burkhardt. The orchestra was able to work with GRAMMY award-winning composer Michael Daugherty this morning!

THE FIELD IS SET!! Eight sites, 48 adjudicators, and 148 OUTSTANDING marching bands! Thank you to Cedar Rapids Washington, Davenport Central, Fort Dodge, Glenwood, Pella, Sheldon, Waterloo West, and Waukee for serving as our hosts for the 2023 IHSMA State Marching Band Festival!!
A BEAUTIFUL morning in Boone for meetings with the All-State Chairs and Site Managers from Le Mars, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Independence, Atlantic, Indianola, and Washington as we prepare to host 4,243 of Iowa’s BEST high school musicians for All-State Auditions in October!
On Sat, we perform at 1:35 pm.
Come check it out and you’ll see 170 students all working together, marching 49 different forms over 956 counts of music, from memory. They worked in temps from 37 to 102, and dealt with historic rain for 5 weeks.

The IHSMA Solo-Small Ensemble Festival hosted by Sioux City, North scheduled for tomorrow, April 14, 2018 has been postponed due to anticipated blizzard conditions.
IHSMA State Marching Band Festival at Glenwood Postponed to Wednesday, Oct 18 - same schedule will be used. All other sites still running as planned at this point.

We are excited to welcome back to Iowa Dr. Ryan Beeken, conductor of the 2023 Iowa All-State Chorus!
Dr. Beeken serves as Director of Choral Activities and Associate Director for the School of Music at Wichita State University and had previously taught in the Waukee schools.
The IHSMA Solo-Small Ensemble Festival scheduled for tomorrow at Independence has been cancelled due to the weather. All other sites are still planning to run as scheduled at this point.
