We are putting in efforts under the #ElimuKwanza initiative to ensure academic excellence in our schools. I graced the Thanksgiving ceremony for St. John the Baptist Likuyani Boys High School, to celebrate their outstanding performance in the 2024 KCSE. The school achieved a mean score of 7.34, with 57 students (74%) securing direct entry to university. Notably, our subcounty ranked third among 13 subcounties in Kakamega County with a positive deviation. This performance is attributed to hard work by students and teachers, as well as our key initiatives in the education sector, which includes bursaries for needy and deserving students, the inaugural creaming program and infrastructure upgrades in schools. During the event, we commissioned a new 40KV Perkins generator funded by the Likuyani NG-CDF to ensure uninterrupted learning for students. Present were Dr. Caroline Hunja (Representative of PS State Department of Higher education and Research), Hon. Benard Shinali (MP Ikolomani), Mrs. Christine Sifuna (Sub-county Director, Ministry of Education), MCAs Hon. Brian Mafunga (Likuyani ward), Hon. Collins Chapurukha (Nzoia ward), NGAO officials, School sponsor, KESSHA and KNUT officials.

In the company of Kakamega County Director of Education, Hellen Nyang’au, and Likuyani Sub-County Director of Education, Christine Sifuna, my office commissioned four new classrooms at Seregeya (2) and Sikulu (2) Comprehensive Schools. Through the partnership between NG-CDF and the Ministry of Education, we have constructed Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms in 41 comprehensive schools, with 14 more schools set to benefit this year. I remain committed to pursuing infrastructural projects that will create a conducive learning environment, boost academic performance and support the effective implementation of the CBC curriculum in our schools. #ElimuKwanza
