GROWING NEED FOR QUALIFIED TEACHING PHYSICIANS A recent AAMC report warns of a growing physician shortage, projecting a shortfall of up to 55,000 primary care doctors by 2032. While the report calls for increased investment in graduate medical education to address this gap, ACGME’s outdated policies continue to block experienced physicians from teaching positions. 💡 The Problem: ACGME requires “active” ABMS or AOA certification for Medical Directors, blocking highly qualified and board certified NBPAS physicians from training the next generation of doctors. Despite hundreds of physician letters urging ACGME leadership to address this issue, there has been no response. It’s time to recognize NBPAS-certified physicians and remove unnecessary barriers to strengthening the future of healthcare. #PhysicianShortage #MedicalEducation #ChoiceinContinuingCertification #NBPAS

Another Push to Expand MOC - This Time Through State Licensure A recent article advocates for replacing state-mandated CME with ABEM's continuing certification, further solidifying ABMS’s control over physician licensure - a shift that is already underway in several states. A few concerning flaws in this study: • Conflicts of interest – The study's authors are affiliated with ABEM, which profits from MOC. • Low response rate – Only 13% of surveyed ABEM-certified physicians responded, making it a poor representation of physician opinions. • No scientific rigor – This is NOT Level A evidence, it’s a self-serving, survey-based push to insert ABEM’s expensive, burdensome program into state licensure requirements. • Misleading language – The survey asks about physician preference for “continuing certification” but doesn’t specify “ABEM continuing certification”. This could also include NBPAS continuing certification. Yet, the results are framed as support for ABEM continuing certification or MOC. If states continue to allow ABMS MOC for licensure, they should also recognize NBPAS Continuing Certification. NBPAS is actively working on that and we will keep you posted on our progress! Support competition, certify with NBPAS - #EndMOC #PhysicianAutonomy #CME #MOCReform #StopForcedMOC #NBPAS

@RepGregMurphy @RepGregMurphy We appreciate efforts to preserve Medicare access and urge policymakers to also address the unnecessary certification mandates that drive costs up and push doctors out of practice. Reducing these barriers is key to stabilizing our healthcare system.

@shycollie @CMichaelGibson This change helps pave the way for more hospitals in the state to accept NBPAS. We have 11 hospitals in OK currently accepting, and we hope to see that grow.

@doctorwes @AhmadRehanKhan @ABMSCert Wes is right! The Oklahoma Medical Board’s recognition now helps hospitals hire NBPAS physicians. 11 hospitals in OK already accept NBPAS, and we hope to see that number grow!

A new study from Appalachian State University reveals that states with anti-MOC laws retain up to 6% more physicians over age 60, which could translate to 60,000 additional physicians nationwide - potentially cutting the projected physician shortage nearly in half. Dr. Aaron Goodman, who led a petition with 20K+ signatures to end MOC, shares his shocking story on Dr. Chadi Nabhan’s podcast. Despite being a leader in hematology, Aaron was listed as "NOT CERTIFIED" by ABIM - all because he refused to pay thousands in back fees for Internal Medicine, a board he chose not to maintain. This is a prime example of how the ABMS monopoly drives physicians out of medicine, worsening the physician shortage. Listen to the podcast and join the movement for change. 🔗
