So this AI tutorial stole my reference photos 😐
I'm very liberal with the usage on my reference photos. Personal work, tracing, commercial work, free sets, no credit needed! Repacking/redistributing, however, has never been OK.
It hurts to see that singular rule abused.

UPDATE: The author reached out and cooperated in removing my image from his page. In this age of online rage and artists having their work stolen, I know I came out of this lucky, but it gives me hope nonetheless!

I made these images for artists to help them learn and elevate their artwork.
Now, they are being used to devalue that pursuit to make AI images, and I'm not sure I can do anything about it. I wish I could say I was surprised, but still, it feels crappy. :(

It's had 20,000+ views in the last 24hrs. That many new eyes on my work would be a big deal.
Instead, my work (and my likeness) was redistributed as a download with no permission, credit or link.

I got my blue belt in Jiu Jitsu!
I started BJJ 2.5 years ago, and honestly, I nearly gave it up. I was tiny, less muscled, old injuries, inflexible, inexperienced). After months of grinding, getting hurt, and still making no obvious progress in life matches, I quit.

It's amazing the power of a subtle shift in expression. The original pose reads as vulnerable and uncertain, but lifting those eyes to meet the viewer and adding wry smirk makes her read playful and coy instead. Expressions are tricky to paint, but so rewarding!

With each quick hit of joy, I went back to feeling pain.
The hedonic treadmill kept turning, and I felt ashamed at the eternally-shifting goal posts.
I knew I had so much to be thankful for, and my pain felt ugly.
I felt ungrateful and weak.

The drive towards pleasure and away from pain exists as a chemical scale (primarily dopamine) inside of us.
Trouble is, that system is not objective or absolute.
It is subjective.
It is relative.
