3.2-fold increased risk of #thyroideyedisease 1-28 days following #CovidVaccines (any dose). Higher risk (4.7-fold) in those aged <50 years. We suggest monitoring of young people, and those at risk for autoimmunity, undergoing Covid-19 vaccination.

#Thyroid-resident memory T cells (TRM) persist in severe #Covid-19 patients with atypical #thyroiditis as sentinels vs reinfections, but can be damaging. TRM were also found in #subacute thyroiditis induced by #CovidVaccines, and thyroid #autoimmunity.

Research by @IlariaMuller et al. followed survivors up to 1 year after SARS-CoV-2 infection, to monitor the evolution of thyroid involvement over time & concluded severe #Covid-19 can trigger transient thyroid dysfunction correlating with disease severity.
