Season 1's approach was somewhat flawed, but it at least was unique and soulful, it tried to be something of its own.
Minimal shading and post processing gave it a unique look. Now, it just looks like... your average 2024 show. (and the drawings themselves are worse too, nice!)

If we take your Eren exemple, I don't think the story is saying "the only solution possible is genocide" but more "the only solution Eren sees is genocide" which is quite an important nuance, I think.

How do you go through 2 seasons of Re:Zero and can't understand the show is mostly about its characters and world/lore and not about constant action
This is one of the worst takes I've seen for Re:Zero on the entire internet. Calling something 100% canon, where every little piece of information and dialogue is so important to the plot, worldbuilding, and characters, 'filler' is beyond stupid.

I don't like using the term "filter" because it can lead to being a bit gatekeepy and elitist, but man did Vinland Saga S2 and Re:Zero S2 filter a lot of people. As soon as you take a slower approach and try to explore your characters, lots of bozos will lose interest it seems.

I love Re:Zero but honestly I find most of the fanbase as a whole mad annoying, be it overused jokes, WN/LN elitism, the way they treat every White Fox project that isn't Re:Zero, hating those just because they exist...

Kinda funny how some anime onlies hated how Season 2 of Re:Zero only covered one arc, complaining about slow pacing and it being boring and all... Hope they aren't too hyped about Season 3 because with one less volume the pacing will be even slower (which is a good thing)
