Consul General O’Shea officially opened the Feis, delivering warm words of welcome to Munich, and he was also on hand later on in the morning to present trophies to the youngest dancers in the competition.

On Saturday, 28 June, the heart of Munich pulsed with the rhythm of reels, jigs, and hornpipes as the 20th Munich Feis brought together over 300 Irish dancers from across the globe for a truly unforgettable celebration!

There was also a bit of friendly rivalry, with colleagues from Embassy of Ireland, Berlin – Botschaft von Irland Berlin togging out for Berlin GAA! . Congratulations to all involved on a truly wonderful day.

12 teams and their supporters from across Germany, as well as from Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, Italy and Croatia gathered in Munich for a day of fierce competition, with the hosts doing the double and taking home both the men’s and ladies’ titles.

The Consulate was delighted to join Munich Colmcilles GAA club on Saturday 28 June for their home football tournament, and even provide the captain of one of the ladies’ teams!

Fascinating visit yesterday to the Celtic site of Heuneburg in Baden-Württemberg, which has been called the first city north of the Alps. Many thanks to @AlberthPatricia, Ina Schultz and our wonderful guide. Looking forward to exploring further Celtic connections in the area.

The evening finished off with a rendition by Paul Daly of ‘Joxer Goes to Stuttgart’, a throwback to 1988 that had the whole room singing along and remembering one of Ireland’s most memorable football moments.
