Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, exploiting vulnerable individuals and destabilizing borders through dangerous routes. IOM works with Gov’t and others — including CSOs — to prevent trafficking in persons, while also supporting and empowering survivors.

Effective border management ensures safety and sovereignty at #EveryStep of migration. IOM works closely with The Gambia Government to establish robust border management mechanisms that bring order and structure to the migration system and reduce the risks of human trafficking.

Over the weekend IOM supported GK Partners in staging Eighth Stake in the Nation Forum thanks to @AfDB_Group. The event provided an opportunity for Gov’t, civil society, development partners, academia and more to discuss leveraging diaspora, jobs and financing for development.

With @IOMAsiaPacific, we invited a Gambia Gov’t delegation to participate in 7th Border Management and Identity Conference (BMIC7) held in Thailand. Overall, BMIC7 aimed to contribute achieving GCM Objective 11: Manage borders in an integrated, secure and coordinated manner.

Our support to The Gambia Gov't continues. With support from @aics_it, IOM donated essential office equipment and furniture to Dept. of Labour to operationalize Job Centers in West Coast, North Bank & Lower River Region — bringing employment opportunities closer to job seekers.
