We are prepping for the winter storm with a full call out for plows. Please stay off the roads. It takes 2-3 hours for plows to return to the beginning of a route, so roads may become impassable, depending on snowfall rates, wind etc.
As a reminder, it takes 2-3 hours for EACH plow to complete 1 full route before they make it back to the beginning. Thank you to our drivers
for their hard work and to Hoosier motorists for being patient.

Due to Gov. Holcomb’s orders to stay home to stop the spread of COVID-19, there are fewer people on the roads. Unfortunately, this has the potential to increase the number of speeders. We IMPLORE you to SLOW DOWN when entering work zones – for everyone's safety!

I-65 on the northwest side and in downtown Indianapolis will open before the expected Aug. 5 deadline. Crews anticipate opening southbound lanes first at approximately 6 p.m. today, then open northbound lanes Saturday morning at approximately 6 a.m.
I-65 West Street ramp to open ahead of schedule. Traffic will be able to access the West Street ramps and take I-65 northbound or southbound by approximately 3 p.m. Crews are still on track to open the rest of I-65 by Sunday, Aug. 5.

District? The bridge is 181 and just received a new roof, shingles, siding and timbers.
This video shows several vehicles on I-70 in Vigo County speeding and failing to move over with road crews on the shoulder. This is not only dangerous, but puts crews, drivers, and passengers in harm's way. Review Indiana's move over law here: .

The covered bridge at Brown County State Park is the oldest and only two-lane covered bridge in the state. It was moved to the state park from its original location in 1932!
INDOT’s Queue Truck Warning System was just announced as Intelligent Transportation Society of the Midwest’s Project of the Year. Our warning system has led to an 80% reduction in hard-braking events!

Last month, Governor Holcomb signed into law Indiana’s hands-free driving bill. The law prohibits drivers from holding and operating devices while driving, promoting safer and more attentive driving.

Today kicks off National School Bus Safety Week. The 2020 theme is “Red Light Means Stop!” School bus transportation plays a critical role in the education of students and is the direct link between a neighborhood & classroom. More than 25M children ride the bus every school day.
Indiana has had a do not text and drive law since 2011. To make things even safer for motorists, starting July 1, Indiana will go completely hands-free with telecommunications devices while operating a motor vehicle. Learn more at .
