Inaugural programme of @ITECnetwork's Executive Course on 'Capacity Building for Wildlife and Conservation Practitioners' was successfully conducted at the Indian Aviation Academy, New Delhi on 9th February, 2025. 44 participants from 27 countries are attending the course. In the sidelines of 78th @CITES Standing Committee meeting today, Mr. Soumitra Dasgupta, Director (Program), IBCA @SoumitraIfs met Ms. Clara Nobbel, Head of Terrestrial Species team @BonnConvention to develop collaboration between IBCA & Jaguar initiative, African Carnivore Initiative, Central Asian Mammal Initiative of #CMS. During the 78th @CITES Standing Committee meeting, IBCA’s Interim Head, Dr. @SPYadavIFS, expressed gratitude to the #CITES Secretariat for the opportunity to participate in the meeting. He mentioned that the International Big Cat Alliance has officially come into force from 23rd January, 2025 as a full-fledged treaty based inter-governmental international organization and international legal entity. The Framework Agreement on establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) has officially come into force from 23rd January, 2025. This marks the beginning of a global effort to unite conservation initiatives, aiming to ensure the long-term survival of the #bigcats and safeguard our ecological future.

On 6th February, 2025, IBCA and Go-Insight successfully hosted a side event titled "Collaborative Approaches to Big Cat Conservation: Strategies from IBCA and #CatByte" during the 78th SC meeting of @CITES. Speakers from IBCA, Go-Insight, IUCN, and CatByte explored how IBCA's mission aligns with CatByte's transformative tech solutions to monitor, protect, and conserve #BigCats. Key discussions focused on: 🔹Need of an organisation like IBCA to lead global efforts in conserving #BigCats. 🔹Role of technology & need for data-driven solutions in protecting big cats. 🔹Collaboration for effective conservation efforts. They had discussions on promoting conservation of #BigCats & related issues through the side events which would be organised on 6th February, 2025 in collaboration between IBCA, @CCFCheetah, CatByte & Go-insight.
