I am honored to once again be named a Microsoft MVP, my 8th time. Thanks to the Microsoft team for the recognition and thanks to all of you who contributed to help me provide a great education in C# for everyone, not just those who can afford it.

I was just renewed for my seventh year as a Microsoft MVP mainly for my work on I’m looking forward to having an even bigger impact this year.

20 years ago today I married the love of my life. I’m so happy I did and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m not a big one for celebrating days, but I’m rather proud of this one.
Stuck at home and need something productive to do? How about learning C#? I have arranged all of my free content (over 200 videos) into a learning path that will get you up to speed quickly (leave a comment for more advice):

I am looking for an experienced C# developer with Azure skills (ServiceBus, Storage, Functions, DevOps, web) to work on a well-documented, short-term project. Web design skills would be a bonus. I’d especially love to help an out of work dev. DM me.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of the massively updated and expanded Foundation in C#. We added so much content, bonus courses, and more that it deserved a new name: Tim Corey's C# Mastercourse. See it yourself:
Who is going to be the lucky subscriber? If you are interested in real-world C# training and aren’t already subscribed, now is a great time to sign up:
Some weeks, I'm way ahead of the curve. Others, I'm recording one of my weekly videos less than 8 hours before it is due. Consistently scheduled content is hard (but worth it). Check out my YouTube channel at It will have a new C# video in 7 hours. ;-)
I hit 100,000 subscribers on YouTube on Sunday! I posted this Channel Recap video in response, to cover where we've been and where we are going: via

Pro resume tip for .NET developers: listing Silverlight as a skill probably isn't helping you land the job. As part of a job, sure, but not as a called-out skill in a skills section.
@IAmTimCorey
is one of the best developer YouTubers out there.
No fluff, no flair, just straight coding and explaining what he's doing.
It's literally like pulling up a chair behind a senior developer and saying "mind if I watch you work for an hour?"
Building CoPilot into Windows is an interesting idea. As Satya said, it should make every Windows user a power user. Just ask it what you need and it can tell you how to do it or do it for you. I think this will be a big win for the everyday Windows user.

@buhakmeh
As a person who is training new developers, I have mixed feelings on this. I will probably teach the "old school" console until they understand those six things you listed. Then, I will use the new way so we can get rid of the ceremony when learning new concepts.
@ShawnWildermuth
My take is that it was the way they did it. They promoted hot reload CLI from the start. They had it in the RC (go live) version of .NET 6 and then they pulled it and left the paid version only. A bit of bait and switch. If it had been buggy/not promoted/not RC it would be fine.

Coding is one of the most valuable skills a person can learn. It can open new doors, jumpstart careers, and help big dreams seem like achievable goals. Everyone around the world should have an opportunity to learn how to code.

Hey
@outlook
, why can't I easily copy an email address? I either get "Test User <test
@test
.com>" or "mailto:test
@test
.com". I have to highlight the user, expand their contact page, then copy that email address. This shouldn't be that hard, especially for an email client.
@buhakmeh
Magic. If there is something that is done for them, they are powerless to fix it when it breaks. That is a huge discourager. Teaching WinForms out of the gate is too much magic (OOP). When the magic breaks, you are helpless. Coding is hard and frustrating enough.
If you are looking for a great developer conference, check this one out (at a waterpark, no less). I'll be speaking on Blazor and VSCode. I hope to see you there.
