thinking about how the quilts they use during the sleepover at Basil's correspond to the outfits in headspace. Aubrey's even has bows on it in the drawing, makes you wonder if Basil's grandma might have hand-made these. I wish I was normal
OMORI ANALYSIS basils house has an absolutely unhinged television placement where is it plugged in. Someone’s gonna trip and fall and that’s gonna cause all KINDS of issues
Hold on. Pause. Are you telling me that the entire friend group was posing for sunnys birthday picture and Basil zoomed in as close he could on just sunny,, 🤨🤨🤨
a criticism of Omori I've never really understood is that the bosses don't represent/symbolize anything, when I actually think almost all of the bosses in Headspace have pretty clear connections to aspects of Sunny's life/character?
did you know that the light bulb in neighbor's bedroom is specifically the light bulb that appears in Basil's bedroom, rather than the one from white space or Sunny's closet? and also Home for Flowers (Sunflower) from the birthday memory contains parts of Lost at a Sleepover
Basil: Sunny... Do you hate me?
Sunny: dreams about Basil hugging him and promising to make new memories together again, moments after Basil stabs out his eye
hang in there Basil
Pyrefly Forest is a very interesting area in Omori! For one, it appears to be based off of the memory of the group going beetle catching, from the photo album. However, what makes it even more interesting (to me) is how the area relates to Basil. Thread 🧵
Basil: “sunflowers always face the sun. That’s what I want to be like!”
Everyone in the friend group except sunny: 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Sunny (clueless): “I don’t think sunflowers actually do that it just a myth”
Alright thoughts:
I really hope Omocat is heavily involved with this, I think it'll be necessary to the headspace segments and what they represent
While I'll probably end up seeing images from the manga as it comes out, I don't know that I have it in me to read this monthly,
an OMORI manga adaption will be serialized in Kodansha’s seinen magazine, Monthly Afternoon, illustrated by Nui Konoito-san [此糸 縫(このいと ぬい)]. the manga will be made for both longtime fans of the game and for a new audience experiencing the story for the first time.
something something sunny's mind perceives preparing food for someone as an act of love (both generally via the way Mari cooked for him and romantically due to the way he depicts Hero and Mari's relationship during memory lane)
Not the hottest take but you really shouldn’t have been able to rename your character in omori. Aside from Sunny not being a player insert, there is symbolism in the game that clearly revolves around his name being Sunny that you miss if you rename him
Also, something I love about this picture: There are zero gardening photos in the real world album. Even in this photo, it's seemingly being taken by Omori. Like to think that Basil just enjoyed gardening so much he never even thought about taking pictures in the moment
In Sunny's house before Memory Lane, you can find a table that he and Basil always sit at. Interestingly, this table is referenced a few times in Headspace, in both Pyrefly Forest and Orange Oasis!
Sunny’s final dream of Basil at the crossroads left such an impact on me the last time I played the sunny route. Every single line just stuck with me. “Let’s make new memories together” repeated, despite everything they had been through. I can’t imagine not wanting that for them
“I get it, you know, if you hate me. Wouldn’t blame you at all. But I just need to tell you… I need you to know that even when I was completely fucked up, I never once stopped loving you.”
WHY THE HECK DOES BASIL WEAR A FLOWER CROWN IN THE PICNIC MEMORY IT'S A MONTH BEFORE MARI TEACHES EVERYONE AND HE'S WEARING A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OUTFIT IN THE PICTURE MARI TOOK AND NO ONE EVER ACKNOWLEDGES IT AND THEN THERE'S THE FIXIT VISION AND OMOCAT HAS NOT ANSWERED MY REQU

NPC that a lot of people miss: Budgirl!
This little character takes the form a pink tulip! When you interact with it, it meows like the Faraway cats/Mewo, and has a 20% chance of giving the player a smoothie flavor other than banana.
Another thing that I think people miss in Omori is that Sunny and his mom were already supposed to have moved by the game's start, since she says she forgot to let the electric company know. Kind of makes you wonder why
The first photo is the one of Kel and Sunny holding Mari's flower crown! From a writing perspective, this photo exists to show how Sunny is idealizing Mari specifically, by erasing her perfectionism.
Something that I love about this ending is the context. It’s only through the player deciding that they care about Basil that we get any kind of reconciliation between Sunny and any of his friends, not to mention, seeing Something fade away
Tbh this shared smile, in context, is more powerful than a thousand 'i love you's could ever be.
They've hurt each other in so many unthinkable ways, yet there's still nowhere they'd rather be than here, smiling at each other. That's how strong their connection is
I've struggled to come up with the right words. It's horrific, and it's terrible, and if you can seriously support Israel after all we've seen, you should take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask why. At the very least, never close your eyes. Don't buy into their clear lies
I know Basil probably has the “Body Slam” skill as a reference to Boss, but I think it would be funny if he body slammed people in real life too. As a treat
My toxic trait is that my second favorite sunny ship is sunny x the maverick purely because of the amount of psychic damage it would cause to the rest of the group, whether it be true love or purely financially motivated
i’m hopelessly, irrevocably in love with you. the desperate, aching kind of love. the kind there’s no coming back from. the kind there’s no way out of. the kind that’s going to be the death of me one day.
Absolutely insane interpretation: Sunny's mind has Basil say "my photo album" when referring to it before Basil gave it to him, and "our album" when referring to it in the current tense
I love the little detail about how both basil and sunny hate being alone, because of the subtlety to it; Basil fears being alone because it was all he ever knew, sunny fears being alone because he never had to be
I think it’s so funny that so many people think that Sunny wouldn’t want to even have Basil in his life after losing his eye because so much of the reason I interpret Sunny to be hopelessly in love with him comes from what he dreams about immediately after the fight
Basil when he realizes that it’s close enough for sunny to visit whenever he wants to drive over vs Basil when he realizes that sunny no longer has depth perception 😔
@andrewwtca
sunny has repressed the concept of lemons due to basil and aubrey using a lemonade stand to raise money for the violin. ignore that lemonade (and an actual lemonade stand) both appear in headspace
looking at this now and realizing that I am way too focused on the light bulb here. It also has the pictures strung up on the wall, the flowers, and the party hats from the birthday memory. It's clearly inspired by Basil's lol
did you know that the light bulb in neighbor's bedroom is specifically the light bulb that appears in Basil's bedroom, rather than the one from white space or Sunny's closet? and also Home for Flowers (Sunflower) from the birthday memory contains parts of Lost at a Sleepover
With this photo, one of the lines has been moved to a later photo, while Basil's line about wearing just one flower instead of a full crown being okay has been completely removed, either because Sunny prefers the flower crown, or he believes that Basil is just being nervous.
From the popular horror RPG game "OMORI" comes Nendoroid OMORI! The Nendoroid even comes with a holding hands part so you can display it together with Nendoroid Basil! Preorders open now!

This is probably my favorite official Basil thus far but why are there so many basils. This is like the third plastic figure line omori has started in the last year
You have that first, mostly blind playthrough of the game, then, you go back and do the omori route and get all the deeper subconcious stuff, then finally you go back and do the sunny route again, but through a new perspective from the other two runs. that's 9 maximus fights
In Headspace, everyone's interested in seeing Basil's photos, and don't mind Basil surprising them. In Memory Lane, however, Kel and Aubrey each have a moment where they're a little more apprehensive, and Sunny is really the only one shown asking to look at Basil's photos.
This is hard to explain but there is like definitely evidence in omori that the gang went to summer camp and we only get to see things about it in abstracts within headspace (and a single rw Kel line) because Basil forgot his camera at home
Something that I think goes unnoticed: The visions that you see around Faraway are connected to the different Memory Lane memories. The only one that contains sprites from separate memories is this one, which is explained by the entry stating that Kel had to remove his rain coat.
I understand why people don’t think Sunny and Basil could work out in canon, but to me, canon is what gives it any meaning at all lol. Sunny and Basil have the most amount of healing to do, and have the most to forgive between the two of them (arguably of course)
Sometimes I wonder if the inconsistency between what Kel says about Hero barely leaving his bed for a year after Mari died and what Aubrey says about Hero being too busy studying to be around in the months after the incident is intentional
the idea of sunny being in like.. a coma for several months based on some of the universally loved gifts referencing school starting is a little silly to imagine, but I do think it would be neat if he woke up in the hospital on the October day that the recital was meant to happen
In addition, the line about Kel being known to spill his drinks has been removed, as it references a memory of Mari getting angry, something that Sunny's mind is likely keen to forget about.
I also see the real world version of this photo as existing to draw a line between how Mari sees perfection as something that needs to be constantly striven for, while Basil sees both her and Sunny as inherently perfect.
The description for Aubrey's watermelon picture seemingly shows how Sunny's repression has affected his memory of the others. Though he remembers the picture perfectly, the line about watermelon being Aubrey's favorite has been changed.
@andrewwtca
Me explaining how the flower crown has metaphorical significance as a crown of thorns for headspace Basil WHILE ALSO the literal reason is sunnys mind still just thinking the flower crown is cute
The remaining photos are showing how Sunny is rewriting his memories even within Headspace, by making it so that Basil was part of the entire journey from the beginning.
The first part of this photo is either another instance of Sunny's memory failing, or him simply misinterpreting. Kel says in the real world that he hates milk, so it definitely isn't his favorite, but he does imply that he drinks a lot of it to try and be taller than Hero.
It should be noted that there are at least two other real world instances of Basil wearing a flower crown in the real world via the Treehouse and Picnic Memories, even if the picnic memory is annoying due to happening prior to the flower crown activity.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the argument? All of them are definitely played for jokes, but that doesn't change the fact that Spaceboy is someone that claims to be above his emotions when he definitely isn't (even changing his name in these instances, like with Omori),
I’m just gonna say it: I don’t think Sunny has ever once actually beat Basil at Pet Rocks. Basil’s too good at reading him. That’s why he owns a Pet Rocks Strategy Guide, but it’s no use
