@charliekirk11 Trump, Elon and company all knew they were in for a lengthy, savage legal fight. They've been ready like a boss since Jan. 20. I'm confident they're ready to see this part of the battle through the court system.

Seems important ...
To be clear, what the @DOGE team and @USTreasury have jointly agreed makes sense is the following: - Require that all outgoing government payments have a payment categorization code, which is necessary in order to pass financial audits. This is frequently left blank, making audits almost impossible. - All payments must also include a rationale for the payment in the comment field, which is currently left blank. Importantly, we are not yet applying ANY judgment to this rationale, but simply requiring that SOME attempt be made to explain the payment more than NOTHING! - The DO-NOT-PAY list of entities known to be fraudulent or people who are dead or are probable fronts for terrorist organizations or do not match Congressional appropriations must actually be implemented and not ignored. Also, it can currently take up to a year to get on this list, which is far too long. This list should be updated at least weekly, if not daily. The above super obvious and necessary changes are being implemented by existing, long-time career government employees, not anyone from @DOGE. It is ridiculous that these changes didn’t exist already! Yesterday, I was told that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious. When I asked if anyone at Treasury had a rough guess for what percentage of that number is unequivocal and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half, so $50B/year or $1B/week!! This is utterly insane and must be addressed immediately.

That is the obvious play if this somehow becomes law. A hell of a lot of income is going to find its way into the tip column.
@davidharsanyi i spent 30 years on commissions only pay, which was a roller coaster ride for sure. can i reclassify my commissions as tips on good service and get my taxes refunded?

I sure as hell paid taxes when I worked for tips. I know they allocate estimated tip income based on credit card transactions and your sales volume.
The no-tax-on-tips thing is popular, but how many people who work for tips pay federal income tax? Probably a very small number

This happened when I moved into a home in the 1990s. No card, no nothing. I knew it did not come from the realtor, because we got a different gift from her. . Finally, at least 10 years later, I asked my next-door neighbor, because he was the only plausible suspect, and he did not remember. Awkward.
You know when you get a birthday gift in the mail without any note and you think you might know who sent it but you don’t want to ask because you don’t want to embarrass them if they didn’t? What do you? Asking for a social awkward friend.

I worked in management in local news media for 30+ years. My subscriptions to the trade journals were all free, because I was the target market advertisers wanted to reach. The idea that zillions of federal worker bees had to have super insider mega subscriptions is ludicrous.
