it is our understanding that the leaked dates do not reflect the dates proposed by the Economy Minister.

We are extremely proud that our
CEO, Colin Neill, has
received an MBE in the Queen's
New Year Honours for services to Hospitaity. This has been the most challenging period for Hospitaity businesses & this honour also helps shine a spotlight on their continued struggle!
Hats off to Tennent’s NI – donating 21,000 bottles of Tipperary Pure Irish Water Water to 5 main hospitals.
Yet another act of kindness from an industry that could be excused for just looking inwards as it struggles cope with financial impact of the Coronavirus.

Businesses have already made the decision for
@niexecutive
as many now could not reopen on Friday even if allowed. Financial support MUST now be extended immediately. Least worst option- work with us to reopen ASAP & no later than 27th Nov
#SaveOurHospitality
Best wishes to all our amazing Hospitaity businesses and staff as they open their doors today. We know there are more challenges ahead to get fully open and viable but the road to recovery starts here.

One again the lack of engagement by The Executuve Office has resulted in businesses across NI spending money they don’t have in an effort to reopen- only to be told they wasted their time!

@LoveBallymena
Great to see one of our local hotels in Ballymena being used as a vaccination centre, helping to get the COVID-19 vaccine to as many people in our community as quickly as possible.
In France, Ireland Germany, Denmark, Ireland and America governments have stepped in to help businesses keep and pay their staff - our hospitality sector wants the chance to do the same

It’s now too late for many businesses to reopen this weekend, and if they are taken off the closed list they will lose the financial support.
The only option is to keep them closed with financial support, and engage with us to get them reopened ASAP and no later than 27th Nov.
Boris Johnson confirms that England has met its 'four tests' for easing lockdown conditions meaning pubs, restaurants and other leisure facilities can reopen to customers indoors
Time has run out for many businesses to reopen this weekend, NI Executuve must now keep financial support in place.
Least worst option- engage with us to get them reopened ASAP and no later than 27th Nov.

Current punitive restrictions on Hospitaity were based on modelling that (thankfully) hasn’t come to pass. Therefore these restrictions must be removed now and support given to help businesses to rebuild!

If you are aware of other job opportunities, PLEASE share them with us so we can spread the word.
This has been a tough week for us, but an even tougher week for the amazing people that make up our industry. More battles to come, but tonight we hope they can now sleep. We are signing off for tonight.

We welcome today’s NI Executive announcement that 1m social distancing is acceptable ‘in circumstances where appropriate mitigations are made’.
Hugely significant development for our industry.
Full statement to follow.
We need Ministers to add hope not fear to our businesses and not make solo runs with statements that cause stress and concern. Statements on Covid measures should come from the
@niexecutive
and should be backed by the data, model and criteria used.

Is foreign travel for holidays off this summer? “Very much so,” says
@RobinSwannMoH
. He says the executive looking into setting up hotel quarantine when direct international travel does begin again
Businesses forced to close on 26th but
@niexecutive
not discussing financial support until 30th December- why? People left worrying over Christmas while
@niexecutive
take a holiday?!
Why are ALARM BELLS not ringing in Goverment. The Hospitaity industry is in crises- cost of energy & cost of doing business is crippling businesses and will result in more closures and job losses. We need help with energy costs, a VAT cut and a rates holiday immediately!
“I, for one, one am not prepared to stand by and watch our staff go without food on their tables, to see their jobs eroded.”
After winning the initial fight for support, CEO Colin Neill demands that Government delivers on promises.

“Partial reopening unfair and will cost jobs”
Hospitality Ulster has urged the NI Executive to make the right call to save thousands of jobs and hundreds of businesses by allowing the entire hospitality sector to reopen from 13th November.

NO GRANTS* for 105 pubs & 100 hotels in NI. NO HELP for company directors. We are very grateful for Goverment support to protect jobs, but we must help all Hospitality businesses if we are to save as many jobs as possible.

It’s becoming impossible for restaurants to make a profit. Unsustainable increases in food costs & VAT at 20% which is more than double the EU average is becoming a slow death for many! You can’t build a successful tourism industry without places for tourists to eat & drink
Congratulations to Judith Owens, Chief Executive
@TitanicBelfast
who has
received an MBE in the Queen's
New Year Honours for services to tourism. Rightly deserved!
Minister Dodds has shown great comittment to our industry. We will work with her & the Executuve to reopen a Covid secure hospitality industry. We look forward to Monday & the anticipated anouncement of a reopening date plus further discussion on a 1m SD

Very interesting data from Ireland. Any reason to believe it’s significantly different here? A breakdown would be good. If we want to sort out this virus, we need take action ourselves (3 out of 4 infections are from within homes) including knocking the house parties on the head!
“This movement by the Executive in bringing forward new dates which reflect the data is to be welcomed after the huge amount of anxiety was caused by the previous dates leaked to the media this morning.” Colin Neill

Northern Ireland cannot fall behind GB reopening with out continued furlough payments for staff. If we remain closed when furlough payments stop, we will see mass redundancies across the NI Hospitality sector. Furloughed jobs are only saved when we reopen!
#HelpOurHospitality
We cannot simply reopen & take our chances, as reduced capacity under social distancing will not work financially, unless we are supported by government throughout the rebuilding process.
