@imthesweig Not too surprising. The track was playing extremely fast, so the stakes record is meaningless. I was thinking somewhere in the 85 to 90 range, so I imagine it could have been a tad higher but not much.

Sand Devil's final time is 3.05 seconds faster than maiden winner Miss American Pie in Race 1. Though, it's hard to compare because the pace of the Damon Runyon was MUCH slower.

That's not how you're supposed to ride a 1/5 favorite. When you're on the best horse, there's no need to slow the pace to a crawl.

I’m doubtful this is the start of some new trend of connections skipping those big pots overseas. Regardless, it looks like we might actually have a decent US older male division this year.

@bigbrown2071 I doubt they would stretch out to 1 1/8m off one maiden sprint. The Gotham would be better, but it's just 22 days away.

Very impressive return to the races for Colloquial, who closed at 121-1 in the most recent Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Has a long way to go to become that kind of horse, but he's shown himself to be a talented sprinter.
