Rep. Nancy Mace will hold a press conference tomorrow at 10 am about the $25 million the Federal Transit Administration allocated to CARTA. The money comes from the bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Rep. Mace voted against.
BREAKING: Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach, and Edisto Beach released a joint statment saying they will continue restricting beach access even if Gov. McMaster announces their reopening this week

Aaaah THERE it is. The real reason you're so upset - someone that wasn't white (and therefore just HAS to be an immigrant) took your seat
Look. You may not like Joe Cunningham. You may hate Democrats. But, after this (and other comments by the Governor), how can you vote for

and look your LGBTQ+ friends/family/coworkers in the face - unless, of course, you agree with this bigoted and archaic belief
At the SC Gov debate tonight, Henry McMaster says he would outlaw gay marriage if he could: “Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I believe that marriage ought to be between a man and a woman.”
No matter your feelings on all things COVID (vaccines, masks, virtual learning, horse medicine, etc.), this was not a good week in South Carolina. We are not doing a good job by any stretch of the imagination. How can you look at all of this, do nothing, and just shrug it off?
Today's soapbox - if you were an "Open the Economy/Open The State" person that said they cared about people not being able to work, but you're not wearing a mask or taking appropriate precautions, you are to blame for people getting sick and places having to close again.
Ok, it's been about four days since the Calhoun statue came down and the city has lost zero tourism dollars over it and we haven't descended back into the 1800s yet. When does all that forgetting history stuff start?
Here's what
@PeteButtigieg
said today when asked what he would say to House Republicans celebrating projects that were funded by a law they voted against.
“Welcome aboard! We’re not going to hold it against the constituents of any member who was short-sighted to vote ‘no’.”
.
@PeteButtigieg
came at us for supporting and helping secure a $26 million grant for the Lowcountry. Trains are crashing, airlines are a disaster, but Pete still has time to keep tabs on us. A guy failing miserably at his own job should really sit this one out.
This isn't an anti-gun or anti-2nd amendment sentiment. I don't know what the solution is, but we must do SOMETHING. Why has this been our country's "normal" since Columbine? This isn't political and it shouldn't be. We need to find solutions together. We need to be better.
While the President touts his Inflation "Reduction" Act, the average family is spending an additional $709 a month on groceries. I’m a single mom and know firsthand how hard this makes life for the average American. We need to do better.

I incorrectly assumed that if politicians are tweeting, they understand how the internet works. Do they not realize how easy it is to find their voting history, past quotes, and previous coverage? Or how that info can be easily shared by anyone on the same damn platform?

A GoFundMe has been set up for the victims of this weekend's DUI accident on Folly Beach. The money raised will help pay for the bride's burial and medical costs for the groom and his family
I get people's annoyance/frustration that a Target is coming to King Street, but you all know it's replacing a Forever 21, right? It's not exactly replacing a mom-and-pop operation.
Reps from SCDP have told me that they have received several reports of incidents involving voting. Voters have told the office that when then chose to vote straight ticket for the Democratic Party, Jaime Harrison's name was left off the ballot.
@DrOBrienMD
Our deference to the Founding Fathers is baffling. Did they have some good ideas? Absolutely. But why do we treat them like they were infallible?
A Charleston "influencer" (with a fairly sizable following), who has been sharing anti-mask and anti-vax posts since last year and has pushed the "just boost your immune system, eat right, and you'll be fine" narrative, shared on Monday that they have COVID.
Katie Arrington really said we have a "trans-demic in our schools." Real classy to make a bigoted comment...especially a bigoted comment about CHILDREN. I'm sure this state's trans kids enjoyed being compared to a contagious disease by someone running for Congress.

"Let’s put this whole issue on the ballot. But we won't do that because y'all are scared to do that. The same thing that happened in Kansas would happen here, resoundingly. Y'all think you know better than your own constituents," Sen.

's campaign seems to have pulled their "Frat Boy Joe" ad from YouTube, etc. I'm guessing that's because Joe Cunningham wasn't actually in a frat and *Gov. McMaster was.* Not only was McMaster in a frat, he was the No. 1 officer in USC's Kappa Alpha in 1969.
1. All eight republicans that voted to oust McCarthy have faced backlash (both men and women, so this has nothing to do with her gender)
2. Who's going to explain The Scarlet Letter to her?
He blocked me before I could respond, so sadly, he'll never know that

definitely appreciates the donation I made today in his honor. Thanks for joining the fight, Jack!
The news hasn't exactly been sunshine and rainbows over the last...forever, but today is a tough one. I'm disheartened. I feel horrible for the innocent people of Ukraine. I'm heartbroken for trans kids (and adults) in Texas and the LGBTQI+ community in Florida (and beyond)...
If you'd like to know how the "Save the Calhoun Monument" movement is going so far, their petition has about 50 signatures, which is a bit shy of their goal to have 10,000 signatures by Monday
I wanted you to hear this directly from me. Jan. 6 was one of the darkest days in our history. And instead of holding accountable those responsible for that day, Nancy Mace caved and fell in line with her base.
It's time to send someone with an actual backbone to Congress.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is for the first time labeling Moms for Liberty and 11 other right-wing “parents' rights” groups as extremist groups in its annual report, released today
We're just days away from my favorite time of year in Charleston - when everyone with a social media account becomes a hurricane expert and blasts local media and government officials for any information they share or decision they make.

The city is slowly being swallowed by the sea, traffic is a nightmare, there are too many hotels being built, education needs an overhaul, there are racial disparities that need to be addressed, but sure, let's quibble over business cards. A noble start to the mayoral race.
In some instances, if the voter writes in the candidate or unchecks straight ballot, Harrison's name reappears. If this (or any other issue) has happened to you, they ask that you call the SCDP Voter Protection Hotline at 1-855-785-0222 or contact
