@MOB51 @murdo_fraser @RhinestoneCow11 He admitted that he would not comply with a woman presenting themselves to him as a patient requesting a same sex examiner, he admitted he would not disclose he wasn’t one and proceed to carry out the examination himself, deceiving them. How is this not a sexual crime?

Haha, special, I should get a badge…I’m teasing 😂 As with most things in life it’s a double edged sword, I’m always lost in the abstract and struggle to be a linear thinker…sometimes miss the obvious in pursuit of over complication. I know MBTI is pseudoscience but it is based on some solid concepts, Jung etc. I have always tested INTJ and this did unlock understanding of myself, I thought I was some kind of psychopath for years…I’m sort of saying that in jest but also not really 🙃 I must have it somewhere, at my parents with report cards and the like, I’ll have a look. I’ve never been interested in joining a club of people, that’s pretty antithetical to my actual personality haha If you do pick up the book, the original 1818 text is important. There was a dumbing down of some concepts, like critique of political concepts, concepts of free will etc…this was due to some issues surrounding publication of literature by women back then

Thanks, I think gothic literature is a good pairing for understanding the darker elements of philosophy, opens up more nuance on the darker complexities of the human experience. Highly recommend the book if you haven’t read it, I still probably think about it at least once a day all these years lager, but then I am a bit of a Mary Shelley fan girl 😂 Well I did have it tested in high school and it was 136 then it dropped a couple of points when I did it again in a sociology class in Uni, to 134…so growing up does seem to make you dumber 😂

I think this is where I went purely based on the word ‘monster’ as a trigger for this route of interpretation. I associated this part of Nietzsches writing with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The consequences of obsession, particularly how Dr Frankenstein's pursuit of knowledge and the creation and obsession with his monster ultimately leads to his own downfall, his integrity and vision of himself and his ideas are compromised. This has more than likely influenced my interpretation of the 'monster’ warning as a caution against losing oneself in the pursuit of external challenges

I don’t interpret it as ‘don’t become bad/evil’ but rather don’t let the chasing of ‘monsters’ lead you to destroy yourself, being consumed with fighting monsters can lead to your own undoing…so the monster warning is destruction rather than bad/evil. Being consumed with fighting monsters could lead you to a monster version of yourself, a creature that is lost of your own identify and integrity
