Thank you North Carolina! We have made history together by taking back the Lieutenant Governor’s office after 12 long years of extreme Republican control! I am honored and humbled to stand before you as your newly elected Lieutenant Governor! I want to start by acknowledging the incredible legacy of my dad, Governor Jim Hunt. Even though I was just a little girl growing up, I witnessed firsthand the importance of strong, compassionate leadership in shaping the future of our state. My dad, like so many other great leaders in North Carolina's history, is a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together as a community. And his legacy is what fuels me to serve the greater good in our state. Like you, I am hopeful for the future because I believe in the power of the next generation of leaders to continue pushing us forward. Leaders like Governor elect, Josh Stein, Attorney General-elect Jeff Jackson, and others. As your Lieutenant Governor-elect, I will fight hard for women's reproductive healthcare, bring attention to the urgent needs of our public schools, and usher in more clean energy jobs for a sustainable future. But the work is far from over. Now, the real work begins. Together, we will build a stronger, more inclusive North Carolina where every voice is heard, every family is supported, and every community thrives. Clearly not what any of us had hoped for or expected. I want to thank so many who did so much for a better outcome. We left it all on the field.
