In 1724, Patriarch Cyril VI of Antioch repudiated his schism & entered into communion with the Pope, the principle of unity & visible head of the Church. Although the schismatics attempted to put in place a rival patriarch, the Melkite Greek Catholic Church arose.

Both Alexios III & Boniface went to Rome to ask for the popes blessings. Innocent III SPECIFICALLY told Boniface not to attack the Greeks. The Pope later heard of their conspiracy, sent 2 warnings which they ignored & excommunicated the crusaders PRIOR to that event.

In 1900, Photios Peroqlou became Patriarch of Alexandria. The next year, Joachim III - known as "the Magnificent" - was elected to his second term as Ecumenical Patriarch. According to the Grand Lodge of Greece, both men were Freemasons.

The Filioque is no more of a change to the Nicene Creed than when 1st Constantinople added "who proceeds from the Father." Chalcedon made clear that clauses which are added/clarify do not count as "changes" so long as they are theologically proper.
