Schools of all sizes need to find coaches willing to share athletes making it possible for them to play multiple sports! These seniors are 189-33 in baseball, 102-4 in basketball & have been to state 7 times in the 2 sports. This success would not happen without sharing athletes!

This crazy kid plays a basketball game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Sioux Falls. Rides a bus 4 hours home to Fayette. Hops into the van with his mother and they drive through the night so he can pitch in Rolla, Missouri this afternoon. Truly one of the most dedicated athletes I know!

Why do so many coaches quit coaching? Because coaches take constant criticism & yet many of those who are criticizing them can't find one fault in their own child! Players who commit to doing the right thing on & OFF the field are much more important to winning than coaches are!!

Way too many coaches forget the number one reason kids play sports is to have fun! You can have high expectations, hold kids accountable & still make the sport fun. Yes winning is fun, but kids should enjoy the sport win or lose. If you don't notice the smiles, make some changes!

Parents can forget their role in the success of a team is very important. Criticizing coaches or players will have a negative affect on a team. You don't have to like everyone to be successful, but you do have to support them! Glad to be at a school where parents understand that!

In my 28 years of education I've heard hundreds of people say, "I wish I would have worked harder in sports & academics in high school & college!" Yet to hear one person say, "I wish I would have partied more in high school & college!" Reach your potential by doing what is right!

How about this for a one week stretch. We bought a house, sold a house, had a son commit to a scholarship offer where his brother already plays and his brother joins the Waterloo Bucks and gets into two games pitching 3 and 2/3 scoreless innings. Should buy a lottery ticket soon!

Stats do not define players. The best way to see the value of a player is to see how he reacts in difficult situations, how he acts off the court, how he treats his teammates, how much time and effort he is willing to put in and how much he is willing to give back to the program!

When you share athletes all programs win. Here is head track coach Jared Collum coaching the basketball team on Sunday. Many track coaches would tell kids they cannot do other sports during the season. Athletes should be allowed to pursue whatever they want to on their own time!!

Draymond Green has always been bad for basketball. He is a great reason why kids shouldn't watch the NBA. Why any coach at any level would want an example like that on their team is beyond me. It is embarrassing to the game of basketball! Wish the NBA would do something about it!

How a team handles themselves during and/or after a win or loss is much more important than the outcome of the game. Much of the good & bad press teams get isn't because of winning or losing. It is because of how kids act when they win and how they handle tough losses! #character

Hopefully those that criticize coaches when they aren't winning are the first to praise them when they are winning. Coaches get way too much credit for wins & losses. Players are the ones winning & losing games. One team has to lose every game, doesn't mean they have bad coaches.

Shout out to the Springville community for making it easy to host their volleyball girls. Players, coaches and fans all showed up wearing masks and without anyone having to remind them. Says a lot about their school & community. Thanks for being positive role models for everyone!

Thank you Lynx fans for coming out this morning bright and early. It wiped out at least one young fan! Best community support anywhere! Lets pack the WELL tomorrow evening at 8:15 p.m. for the semi-finals! Special group of young men led by four amazing seniors - love these guys!

Jori had her 1st dance recital tonight. It took me about 3 hours to get her hair & make-up done! She did a great job at the recital and it was a lot of fun! Thank you to Trisha & Mady Arnold who actually did Jori's hair & make-up. I barely figured out how to get her tights on! 🤣

D2 Match-up at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls between Upper Iowa and Augustana. Three starters for Walker, Iowa between the two teams, pretty cool.

David Seber scores his 1,000th point in a Lynx victory tonight! He is also sporting his no shave November look, along with his new duffle bag. Congratulations to one of the hardest working & toughest kids I have ever coached! Proud to be his coach and going to miss him next year!

Anyone complaining about buying online tickets in Iowa for high school tournament games should try to buy tickets at the gate for a Minnesota Twins game. Almost had to give up our third child, but as you can see, they would not take her for some unknown reason. #mustbeaneasierway

Congratulations to Marv Porter on his 100th win at North Linn. He has 100 wins & only 9 losses in three years here. That is the best record of any softball coach from any class during that time. Very impressive! Lucky to have you coaching here Marv. Thanks for all you do for us!

We truly are lucky to coach at North Linn. Not because we have great athletes, but because we have great kids. Third day in a row a bunch of North Linn athletes were willing to go help someone in need! Love our kids and community. Thanks for all you do. Always proud to be a Lynx!

Jake's first at bat for the Bucks comes in his first start with bases juiced & one out. Hard hit to second base & he just beats the double play for his first RBI. Bucks have scored 2 in the inning and still batting. He scores his first run as the batter gets beaned. Bucks up 3-2.

Playing time is great, but players can have a huge impact on the success of a team by working hard, being positive & showing great character too! These things will be much more important to a players future than playing time will. Contribute positively however you can & have fun!

Pretty neat to come home to a caravan of several fire trucks & a whole lot of cars last night. Thank you to the fire departments, the students & the community members that followed us to the school for a reception last night! What a special community we are part of! #lynxcountry

Well friends it is time to come clean. Obviously the boys got all their talent from Jaci! She played basketball, tennis & even had time left over for cheerleading. I was predominantly more of a woods shop and auto mechanic type of guy. Didn't care much for sports back in the day!
