Our crime scene technicians processed evidence recovered from a house’s roof earlier today. A candy cane, snow, and apparent reindeer tracks were found. No fingerprints were found on the candy cane, but the snow was from the North Pole. We’ll be keeping an eye out tonight.
This mother duck needed our help this morning when her 11 ducklings fell in a storm drain. Our officers worked to reunite the little ones with their mother before giving the family a ride to a nearby pond. The family is now happily enjoying the sunshine with the rest of us.
A few days ago, we took a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim was a 9-yr. old boy who had it parked outside the Shute Park Library. Ofc. Matt Delepine made the case a priority. Ofc. Delepine located the stolen bike, arrested the suspect, and returned it to the happy 9-yr.old.

on a K9 track. Dozer tracked the suspect, who was arrested for reckless driving and att. assault-II. Dozer is a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois and has been serving with HPD since June of 2017.
The eastbound on-ramp to Hwy. 26 from southbound Cornelius Pass Rd. is closed due to an overturned semi. There are no injuries, but potatoes everywhere. Please use alternate routes.
A fawn was separated from her mother this morning and concerned community members called us. Sgt. Beaver found the scared fawn, called Tanasbourne Vet, and took her there for evaluation. After she was checked out, he returned the fawn to her mother. They’re now happily reunited.
Ofc. Ryan Black of HPD was instrumental in saving a life on 11-9-20 in our community. Ofc. Black was on patrol and in the area which allowed him to quickly arrive at the residence and give life saving measures to save a husband, father and friend to so many.

On August 9, 2021, K9 Ace retired from HPD. Ace spent over five years as a police K-9 and had 314 deployments and over 1200 hours of training. During Aces’ career, he helped recover over 12lbs of Meth., 5lbs of Heroin, 5lbs of Cocaine and 900 Fentanyl pills.

Meet our newest police officer, Andrew Taylor, who was sworn in this morning. Andrew came to us as a lateral police officer from the Dallas, OR, police department. Andrew served as a police officer in Dallas for almost three years before coming to HPD. Welcome to HPD, Andrew.
An organized retail theft suspect was apprehended today with $1200 worth of merchandise stolen from a local business. During the investigation, it was learned the suspect had been involved in theft cases from other area retailers, totaling thousands of dollars.

11 ARRESTED IN RETAIL THEFT BLITZ | On 8/23/23, HPD partnered with Fred Meyer on SE Tualatin Valley Hwy to conduct a retail theft blitz. During the 6-hour operation, 11 arrests were made. The arrests included 8 adults and 3 juveniles.

This morning, a family discovered their car stolen and called to report it. It looked like a sad start to their holidays.
However, an officer on patrol spotted the car in a parking lot. The man driving it was arrested, and the car was returned to the family in good condition.
HPD and WCSO traffic teams conducted a distracted driving enforcement detail at SE 10th/SE Oak today. An HPD officer held a sign that said "I'm a cop put down your phone". Resulting in 28 distracted driving citations and 22 citations for other violations. Please be safe.
Yesterday afternoon a mama duck and her eight ducklings wandered into traffic and couldn’t find their way out. Officers safely rescued all nine members of the fine-feathered family before taking them to a local pond, where they happily swam away together.
Three vehicles were racing on HWY 26 at speeds well over 100 mph. Officers performed a traffic stop on one of the involved vehicles. The driver was cited for speeding over 100 mph, careless driving, and speed racing. The total fine was $1,855 and the driver is pending suspension.
K-9 Jett passed away from cancer Monday evening. Jett and partner Ofc. Holmes worked together since 2012, accumulating 2,300 training hours, 500 deployments, and many community education presentations. Thanks for your service, Jett. You will be missed.

There is a first time for everything - HPD K9 Dozer gets his first capture! A suspect who stole over $1000 worth of merchandise from Fred Meyer was no match for this police K9! Dozer found the suspect hiding in a recycling bin!
HPD says goodbye to medically retired K9 Timber. Timber, 5, was partnered with Officer Lee & served 2 years prior to retirement a few months ago. The team had 41 captures & were an integral part of the local police canine community. RIP Timber, thank you for your service.

Last night HPD officers responded to a crash at 1st & Grant where the driver took off running. K9 Dozer tracked several blocks before finding the driver curled up hiding in a yard. Although he didn’t need them, Dozer appreciated the footprints the driver left in the snow too!
We want to welcome our newest police officer Benjamin Tinnell. This morning Benjamin was sworn in as our newest police officer. Benjamin will begin his field training program and be assigned to our patrol division.
On April 11, officers went to serve an arrest warrant. The wanted man jumped out a house’s back window and fled. K-9 Blazer tracked the man and found him, muddy from head to toe, on the bank of Rock Creek. Officers arrested him without incident.

, including our fine-feathered friends. On Saturday, this fellow fell out of his nest and hurt his leg. Officers took him to a wildlife rescue, where’s he happily recuperating.
Hank is a 4 month old French Bulldog and he had a bit of a scare today. Hank’s owner called dispatch to report a stranger had just stolen Hank. The thief was barking up the wrong tree, as 4 minutes later officers saved Hank. Hank was returned home and the suspect was arrested!
All members of the Hillsboro Police Department are saddened by the tragic death of Clark County, WA Deputy Jeremy Brown, who was killed last night while performing his duties as a law enforcement officer. Mourning bands will be worn over our badges to grieve his tragic death.

K9 Kudos - HPD K9 Dozer locates suspect who fled from a domestic dispute and ran into a nearby neighborhood. Dozer tracked and located the suspect hiding under the porch of an unsuspecting homeowner.
K9 Ace assisted patrol on a traffic stop and located a large amount of methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and suspected fentanyl pills. The suspect was charged with a Commercial Drug Offense and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Officers recently investigated a man trespassing in yards, even climbing on the roof of a house. They called on K-9 Blazer to track the man. Blazer found him hiding 30 feet up in a tree. The man climbed down, and officers arrested him without incident.
On 2-3-21 at about 2:50pm HPD officers arrested Alejandro Jaimes-Radilla / 33yrs. old who was wanted on felony charges. With the assistance of HPD K-9 Blazer and a drone from the Washington County Sheriff's Office we were able to locate Alejandro on the roof.

A pit bull was loose near Quatama Crossing Apts. Aided with doggie treats from several residents, our Code Compliance & Patrol Officers safely captured and transported it to Bonnie L. Hayes shelter safe, unharmed, ready to be reunited with it’s owners. Way to Go Day Shift Team!

Last night K9 Blazer located two shoplifting suspects who ran from the scene near NW 185th. After a short track, he found a female suspect hiding in a hedge. The male suspect was located a half mile away, hiding deep in a wetland blackberry patch. Way to go, dog!

Just another day on the job for K9 Mac! On December 3rd, Mac assisted the Washington County Deputies in locating a suspect who had fled from a vehicle after crashing into an apartment complex garage. Mac and his handler found the suspect hiding in the complex. Good boy, Mac!
HPD K9s Ace & Blazer take to the water at Paws Aquatics Water Sports & Rehab! This specially equipped facility allows dogs of all breeds to rehab from injury, exercise & dock dive. Paws gives HPD K9s the ability to work on building stamina and confidence. They have fun too!

THEFT AND BURGLAR ARRESTED I The caller advised they escorted an intruder out of their courtyard. However, the caller did not realize HPD had been searching for the male for prior reports of theft and burglary.

Meet Ricky Ruelas and his K-9 partner Tuco who just graduated from K-9 school. Their K-9 school consisted of over 250-hrs. of in class training and then passing the Oregon Police K-9 Association Performance Standards. Tuco is a tracking dog. Congratulations.

We want to welcome our newest police officer Joe Yazzolino. Joe was sworn in this morning and will be our newest member of the patrol division. Joe came to us from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, where he was a deputy for 19.5 years. We are excited to have Joe with HPD.
As a follow-up on yesterday's popsicle patrol, it was a massive success, with over 500 popsicles given out. We will have five more popsicle patrols planned throughout the summer, which we will advertise on social media in advance. Thank you for supporting your police department

On 12/30/22, the Hillsboro Police Department Bike Team arrested an organized retail theft suspect after she stole more than $750 worth of merchandise.
The same 39-year-old female has stolen nearly $9,000 worth of merchandise from various Target stores over time.

K9 Kudos - HPD K9 Blazer located three subjects trespassing in an apartment complex under construction. He tracked up multiple floors of different buildings and through unfinished apartments before locating the three subjects!
K9 Kudos - Late last night HPD officers tried to stop a vehicle near 62nd/Lois. Both occupants ran from the car. K9 Dozer tracked from the car and located a female lying in some vegetation between two
houses. She had warrants for her arrest and was taken to jail.
The incident in which George Floyd lost his life is heartbreaking and tragic. Our hearts go out to the Floyd family and all grieving Mr. Floyd’s death.

Mail recovered out of a stolen vehicle was reunited with the sender. The mail in the photo is birthday cards which, although now late as a result of the theft, will still get to their intended recipient. A little additional effort makes all the difference. Thank You Officer Ruiz!
Do you know what to do when an intersection’s traffic lights are out? No, treating it like a green light and just driving through isn’t the answer. When the lights are out, drivers are required to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
