Our highways teams have been working through the night and made good progress in repairing and resurfacing some of the affected areas of the A24 following the diesel spill yesterday. We’re continuing to ask drivers to avoid the area whilst we undertake these extensive works.

A24 Diesel Spill Update
The heat is affecting the road setting process, so we will be reopening the full stretch of the A24 later this evening.
Givon's Grove Roundabout will be resurfaced over the weekend during the evening, lane access will be in place to enable connection.

✅ We cleared invasive weeds from over 300 metres of the canal, cut back hedges and did litter picking between the Woodham Junction and the Byfleet Road Bridge

A24 Update
We are dedicated to opening the A24 as quickly and safely as possible. Our aim is to have the A24 fully reopened during the daytime only, by Friday lunchtime.
The roundabouts have been cleaned but will require resurfacing in the evening 8pm - 6am over the next week.

We are still on target for our Friday lunchtime opening of the A24, with exception of some roundabouts that will be completed at night.
Flint Hill Roundabout will need to be resurfaced during the day on Thurs & Fri this week. Local access will be maintained.
A22 Caterham Bypass is now reopen following the diesel spillage. Thanks to local businesses, the school and residents for their patience during this time.

We are expecting heavy showers and strong winds from tonight (10 March) and expect this to cause some disruption on the roads in Surrey. We have extra crews ready to deal with emergency calls we may get about fallen trees, flooding etc.
Keeping an eye on your pets is particularly important during winter months. Grit, salt and antifreeze are toxic to animals and can have some nasty side effects. Check paws are clean and free of redness after venturing outside.

🚨 A24 Diesel Spill Update
🚨 We are planing and laying a new road surface from Old Horsham Road towards Flint Hill Roundabout. We have also been working on the section between Flint Hill Roundabout and Deepdene Roundabout. We are currently on track with our work programme.
Our crews reacted quickly on Friday AM to a large liquid concrete spillage in Guildford which would have set quickly, ruining the road surface. They shovelled it into piles and then onto a lorry using a digger. With help from Guildford B.C. & police we reopened the road by 2PM.

We’re continuing resurfacing works on the A22 and have made significant progress again today. The road will remain closed north and southbound from Wapses Lodge roundabout to junction 6 M25 until we safely have carried out the works. We anticipate completing by Thursday 16 May.
🌳 We've planted over 1,000 new trees on our verges since last April.
🌳 Our new wooden tree tags are eco-friendly, sustainable and reusable. The tags ask for help in watering the trees and feature a QR code linking to our planting advice.

Guildford Fire Station are experiencing an issue with road users ignoring the station traffic lights. ❗
The lights flash when the crew is responding to an incident, ensuring the traffic stops.
Ignoring them carries the same penalty as driving through any other red light.
