@alexandramattisson The Adventures of Duncan and Bane Digital BOOK £5.00 100% of all proceeds from the sale of this e-book will be donated to Hero Paws. A heartfelt collection of short stories aimed at both children and adults, crafted to raise awareness for military working dogs. From their touching first meeting in "Home," where Duncan gives Bane hope after loss, to the adventurous quests in "Treasure" and "Mission: Snout," each story reinforces the importance of giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. The ultimate message is clear: cherish all beings and adopt, don’t shop. Join Duncan and Bane on their unforgettable journeys and discover their powerful bond that transcends words. Military working dogs play an invaluable role in service, offering courage, loyalty, and devotion in the line of duty. These extraordinary dogs, trained to detect explosives, locate missing persons, and protect their handlers, often face difficult transitions when their service comes to an end. Many retired military working dogs find themselves in need of specialized care, support, and, most importantly, a loving home for their well-deserved retirement. The Adventures of Duncan and Bane aims to honour these unsung heroes by sharing the unique bond between Duncan, a pilot, and Bane, a military working dog in need of a second chance. Through a collection of heartwarming stories, the book underscores the resilience, strength, and loyalty that define military working dogs, while also highlighting the importance of providing them with compassion and support once their service is complete. Duncan’s friendship with Bane teaches readers about the deep impact that dogs have on those they protect, as well as the need to advocate for the care of animals who have dedicated their lives to others. Each story emphasizes the importance of speaking up for those who can not speak for themselves and encourages compassion toward all beings. With simple, heartfelt illustrations, The Adventures of Duncan and Bane speaks to both children and adults, helping readers understand the meaningful role these dogs play and the need to support their journey into retirement. Remembering the beautiful retired British Army Search dog Bruiser, who crossed the rainbow bridge on 10th February 2020 In the lead up to Rememberance Day, we will be sharing some posts in memory of the Military Working Dogs who are no longer with us 🐾 We will remember them 🇬🇧 Handsome boy Bruiser retired in 2017 and got to spend his days with Busy his vetran sister from another mister, Busy 4876 and Bruiser were both search dogs with multiple tours of Afghanistan under their collars and very much ready for retired life. Beautiful Busy never "officially" retired, but thankfully her final posting as a working dog allowed her to unlimited time with her handler, which meant she was practically a pet anyway- living the dream in the comfort of civi surroundings and sadly passed away in March 2019. Bruiser was a loveable boy who clearly didn't realise he was actually a bit of giant, as he often plonked himself right on his humans lap like he was a little chihuahua ready for his daily cuddles. His antics brought a smile to those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him. Sadly, Bruiser passed away on 10th February 2020 🐾 We like to think that Busy & Bruiser are reunited and splashing around together with an endless supply of toys. We will remember them 🇬🇧🥀

Lest we forget CSM Gladys "Molly" Francis BURIED alive in the dark, Molly Francis desperately tried to shout for help. Pinned under eight feet of rubble and heavy equipment after a direct hit on her command post in Allied-occupied Brussels, she was trapped. It was February 1945, the tide of war had turned dramatically against the Nazis and the war in Europe would be over in three months, but Molly feared she might not live to see the end of hostilities. “I thought they were not going to be able to dig me out and that I was gone,” she recalls today. “I remember waking up and not knowing where I was. You try to make yourself heard, but you can’t because nobody knows you are there. They didn’t get everybody out.” Molly was one of the lucky ones. She was dug out and rushed to the hospital where she spent ten days recovering from her injuries after having shrapnel removed from her shoulder. Her incredible story of survival is being told for the first time after the Women’s Royal Army Corps Association (WRAC) and the Daily Express teamed up to find Britain’s oldest surviving British female war veteran @veteransfoundationuk Pause for a moment and join us in paying our respects to Company Sergeant Major Gladys "Molly" Francis, who died January 10, at the age of 103. Molly served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in WW2 and was named Britain's oldest female war veteran in 2020 after the Daily Express and the Women’s Royal Army Corps Association (WRAC) teamed up to find Britain’s oldest surviving British female war veteran. Molly was deployed to the 435th Heavy Artillery Battery in Richmond Park in 1941, where she operated and oversaw the height-finding apparatus. After just 18 months, she got promoted to become the first female Company Sergeant Major to manage men and women. The promotion put her in charge of hundreds of people.

Red Army Dogs of WW2 The Red Army began WW2 with 50 000 dogs already trained. Most dogs were white Samoyeds trained to find and help wounded soldiers lost in the snow. Rex and Lloyd VonSickel. Rex was one of the Samoyeds volunteered for service in the U.S. Army. Several dogs were trained to parachute from small aircraft for remote rescue missions. Source Tahoe Weekly But the soviets were unscrupulous; they also trained their dogs to fight tanks, sniff mines, and as spies (diversion service). Russian military trained half-starved dogs to run underneath tanks and armoured vehicles in search of food, while explosives were strapped to their bodies. The detonator was a rod that extended upwards from the explosive pouch the dogs wore. When they ducked under tanks, the rod would hit the hull of the vehicle, detonating bomb and dog. Luckily, the anti-tank dogs had mixed success as the dogs, trained to run under stationery, non-firing tanks, often retreated at the sound of enemy gunfire, returning to the Soviet trenches, exploding and taking their comrades with them 💔
