Noah Long '20 completed an associate’s degree at Durham Technical Community College before transferring to Carolina. While eager to attend UNC-Chapel Hill, Noah was unsettled by the amount of student debt he would incur. But thanks to the Carolina Covenant, his financial burden was lifted. Long now works as a Business Development Research Analyst. “The Carolina Covenant is so much more than money,” Noah stressed. “It is a group of people who are nice and helpful and want nothing more than to see me succeed.” #covenant20th

Sophie To, PhD candidate, set out to uplift Asian and Asian American voices in her final chapter at Carolina. As a part of her PhD dissertation, she wanted to use oral history. When she was a field scholar in Carolina’s Southern Oral History Program in 2022, she discovered Southern Mix. Witness the impact of Asian American stories through the eyes of oral historian Sophie To and her work on the UNC Asian American Center's Southern Mix oral history program.

From the Democratic Republic of Congo to Burundi to the United States, Fidele Mugisha’s path to Carolina was a winding one. Thanks to his own perseverance and support from the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program and the Carolina Covenant, Fidele graduated from Carolina in 2021 with a degree in business administration. Mugisha now works as a Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist at Lenovo. #covenant20th:
