#DoctorWhoRankings #26 Terror of the Zygons The true UNIT swansong back together for a last time before The Doctor swans off with Sarah-Jane to distant galaxies. Here the Zygons look terrifyingly organic and there is a plot but this is style over content and it is very stylish

#DoctorWhoRankings #75 The Greatest Show in the Galaxy This is slowly rising to the top of my favourite Seventh Doctor story. It is nonsense and self-parody in places but the Chief Clown is chilling and it suits the now established character of the Doctor.

#DoctorWhoRankings #39 The Silurians Whilst I recognise that the set up in S7 is not sustainable I am glad we have got it. This is the Brigadier at his most military and not at all buffoonish. There is real tension here and another fantastic shades of grey script from Hulke

#DoctorWhoRankings #115 The Curse of Peladon The Doctor and Jo get off Earth and have an absolute ball doing so. This story has not just Ice Warriors but a group of other races and The Doctor has no problem pretending to be the Delegate from Earth. Enormous fun.

#DoctorWhoRankings #98 The Pirate Planet This is an utter joy with one of the most quotable scripts and a great sense of visuals. Bruce Purchase is so far over the top he is almost out of sight but anything less would be a disservice to the material. Still way too low.

#DoctorWhoRankings2023 67. Invasion of the Dinosaurs (+13) This story climbing by this much in the Top quarter of the rankings goes to show that if you have a good story to tell and audience engagement the success of the special effects can be a secondary considerstion

#DoctorWhoRankings #192 Empress of Mars Another S10 episode that is way too low. It is a fantastic homage to steampunk and early SF. Great cast and the Ice Warriors were how I wanted to see them. Enjoyed Anthony Calf's guest performance and Bill and The Doctor always a joy

#DoctorWhoRankings #101 The Haunting of Villa Diodati A ghost story that picks up the season thread and introduces The Lone Cyberman. It is beautifully directed and sets up the finale nicely. There are elements that jar but overall a great episode.

#DoctorWhoRankings #25 Turn Left We have had a cluster of stories from S4 today and this takes the prize as the highest placed story in the triumphant season. It is a Doctor-lite episode and pays off little clues about Donna throughout the series. The alternatives are clever

#DoctorWhoRankings #249 The Caretaker There is a lot in S8 that doesn't work but Peter Capaldi is very good with comic material. I think Samuel Anderson is also very good and don't understand those who dislike Danny Pink.

#DoctorWhoRankings #279 The Lie of the Land There are problems with this one but it does not deserve to be this low. It provides a full conclusion to the Monk trilogy and gives Bill & Nardole a lot to do and the scenes with Missy in the vault are superb. Better on a rewatch
