is predicting a major pattern shift coming starting with the Valentines Day snowstorm. The eastern part of the country will have major snowstorms and colder weather well into March. At least one major East Coast snowstorm will occur during this pattern.
This about one of the most amazing weather patterns about to descend on the eastern US. Strong blocking pattern with a strong AO will lead to very cold weatherrand perhaps coastal storms. Big Daddy might be coming by the 15th!
The El Nino is going through a strengthening phase and that will result in a highly negative AO and possible wobble south of the Polar Vortex the next two weeks. is monitoring the potential for several snowstorms prior to the end of the month. Join!
The pattern has changed and now the barrage of winter storms and cold will hit the East through March. No early spring this year. I already predict the Groundhog will say 6 more weeks of winter. The Groundhog might want to extend that to 10 weeks!
As far as Weather Madness is concerned. Yesterday was not a BUST. No one got killed, no one got seriously injured...Word got out and people took appropriate precautions. I say that's a success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to admit, the GFS runs look pretty darn interesting. If we can just get the blocking to come in, but even neutral NAO brings storms....Anyway, fun to look at...
Storm will come up and loop off new Jersey before exiting east-northeast. Thank you -NAO. Big amounts approaching 30 inches. Another one coming after the holidays!
The PNA will go positive after the 15th which means the trough comes into the East for the holidays. The combination of the strong AO and Positive PNA could lead to a very cold holiday time period.
I've decided not to follow the
@capitalweather
weather gang anymore because of the hypocrisy of the FAKE METEOROLOGY they put out. True Meteorology is dying because of FAKE METEOROLOGY reporting.
Been talking about the pattern going to winter since early Nov on Weather Madness Pro. Get ready for snows through December. Jan and Feb look like fun.
The main points on next weeks storm whether is goes up through the Ohio Valley or up the coast, someone is going to have an epic storm with heavy snow, winds over 40 mph, dangerous wind chills, and snowing with temps in the teens and single digits.
Getting excited to be back with everyone sharing my thoughts on the weather through blogs and videos. I see we have something brewing in the Caribbean.
is predicting a major snowstorm for the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic. For Baltimore and Washington, this is going to the first major storm in a long time. Some areas of the Appalachians and Northeast could see seasonal snowfall this month.
A Heavy Windy Wet Snowstorm for the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes Monday. Blocking for the Second One Means Snow into to the I-95 Corridor Late next Week. The Fun Begins!
Reading through some of the great Mets out there I see they are seeing the same potential for the East! Been talking about it on Weather Madness Pro that a Big Daddy or Big Grandpa is lurking after Jan 10th...!
I urge caution where reading non-professional mets who have no formal training in meteorology and are putting out forecasts during what could be a major hurricane. I draw the line with non mets during major weather events!
I just Wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all the meteorologist who work tirelessly during the severe winter storm. I saw a lot of great tweets during the storm that provided great information!
I have a theory on the spike in cases in Nevada, Florida, California and Arizona. While the theory of heat kills the virus, it seems that the heat has hit these states so people are now staying inside in the air conditioning where it can be transmitted easier in the cooler air.
is tracking a major storm this weekend. The storm will hit the Northeast with heavy rains, possible heavy wet snow and high winds. Juts one of many storms coming. November might be get wild in the East as the AO tanks!
The first half of January is wild in the West but the second half will be wild in the East. Slingshot effect as the La Nina will weaken down after the 15th.
Hot cold hot cold...extremes the are a coming... forget the darn politics and start enjoying the weather. As the great one says "Enjoy the weather it's the only weather you have!"
Keep in mind, the El Nino is weakening which has been the driving force the fall, so as that continues to weaken, the westerlies will buckle allowing for more troughs in the East.
One aspect of the Polar Vortex Superstorm will be the Dam Bursting high wind event that will occur in the Mid-Atlantic to New England. Winds may gust 60-80 mph as the artic rushes in over the Appalachians. Flash freezes, power outages, road pile-ups all possible.
