Dear 16-year-old Henry who couldn't get a job working a comic shop,
You get to call and work with comic shops for a living—and said comic shops sell your work.
Love,
32-year-old Henry
Today is my last day at Oni Press. I worked with some fantastic folks, creators, and retailers. I'm looking forward to the next chapter in the ever-changing comic book business.
I can publicly say that I wrote a Batman story featuring Etrigan The Demon. The art is by

BATMAN: URBAN LEGENDS
#18
is coming out on August 9th. Please tell your local comic shop you need a copy.
The problem with the comic book industry is all of you blindly supporting a bigot just because he’s letting Hansel and Gretel go into public domain. Racists supporting racists.
If you loved the Mesoamerican stuff in

here’s a 🧵 of comics you should check out:
Helm Greycastle: what if the conquistadores were defeated by the Azteca. But it’s in a fantasy world. Includes 5E RPGS set in 1519 Aztlan.
I can finally talk about this publicly. I am taking over the syndicated comic strip GIL THORP. This is a dream come true. When I say see you in the funny papers...I mean it!

César Romero iconic actor that played Joker in the Batman 1966 series and film. Romero lived publicly in the closet but did out himself in an interview for “Hollywood Gays” by Boze Hadleigh.

I drove to my first SDCC 13 years ago. I was a 19-year-old punk with the ambition to maybe write comics someday.
Last week I was a special SDCC SE guest. I still can't believe it.
I'm doing my best to enjoy it while it lasts.
Here’s a sequence from Helm

that I love. I want to show the Azteca not as the heartcarving heathens history only likes to remember. They were dancers, farmers, mathematicians...they did incredible things. I know you haven’t read issue one yet, but two is where the band jives.
A woman in a MAGA hat started screaming at me to take my mask off while I was stopped at a red light on my bike. She screamed IT’S A HOAX while speeding off before I could get a photo.
Now it appears

Hello, editors! My current financial situation requires that I take on some freelance work. I'm looking for writing opportunities. I am happy to do Latinx stuff, but I am open to other genres and styles. Thanks for keeping me in mind.
My first
@DCComics
work is FOCing on Sunday. While I'm proud of our work, it's bittersweet because I named a new character after my friend, Linda Haro, who recently passed away. Please ask your LCS to add the Etrigan/Batman cover by Gerardo Zaffino (0622DC124) to your pull.
Hey, everyone. Please check out my Latinx Fantasy HELM GREYCASTLE on

! Basically, it's what if Mordor had a Southside—and the Aztecs stopped the Spanish invasion with magic!
I am honored that The Creepshow anthology was recognized for an Eisner nomination this year. Big thanks to
@JonMoisan
and
@alex_segura
for curating such a great collection of stories and letting me have a seat at the table.
Support your local comic shop or book store. Read it on your phone through Apple, ComiXology, Drivethru, Hoopla, or Google Play. Libraries can literally order any comic that has an ISBN.
If you steal comics you’re a piece of trash.

Hey

! Consider replacing Dilbert with Gil Thorp! We tackle subjects like mass shooter drills, trans athletes, and a kid reincarnated as magical peacocks.
My NCS application has been accepted. I’m very excited to stand on the shoulders of giants. I recognize that it’s rare to be in the cartooning newspaper business, so I don’t take this opportunity for granted.
I hated high school. I was working 40 hours a week and sleeping in class. The only time I felt truly engaged was when my history teacher in my junior year used MAUS to discuss the Holocaust. That really inspired me to make comics.
One year at Long Beach con I was staying at the hotel next door to the convention center. It was raining cats and dogs. I see George Perez unsure where to go. I asked him if he was going to the con and if he wanted to walk with me. We strolled through the rain together. 1/2
These two said they came out to support fair elections. Declined to give names, one of them said whether Biden or Trump wins he just wants it to be fair.

It’s wild to me that walking through bar con and seeing all the group photos post a con that a majority of the comic book creators don’t care that they have zero BIPOC in their social circles and professional groups.
I have gone from subscribing to the Arizona Daily Star, delivering the paper at 2 a.m., writing for the said paper, and now on the front page. Below the fold, but that still counts.
Check out the first GIL THORP strip in the sports section or here:
We keep saying it. We keep tweeting it. But comics needs a union. My heart breaks for my friends that have kids, families, partners, and single but don’t know how the lights are going to stay on next month.
Hey, librarians and educators. Please consider La Voz De MAYO for your summer reading recommendations. LATINX and Native kids deserve to see themselves in history, not just in cages. DM for a PDF.
I would take a one-day festival in the sun where I’m engaging with folks that don’t have readily access to a local comic shop than waste my time at a three-day con where there are more celebs and pro wrestlers than comic book creators.
I spent my day signing at two comic shops. I feel fortunate to have so much support from the retailer community in Los Angeles.
L.A. is the best comics town. I know them is fightin’ words, but that’s a hill I will die on.

There’s another level to this that people don’t consider: the publishing staff. When you’re shitty to marketing, design, legal, or anyone who helps the book across the finish line... it will follow you. There’s a lot of pros I won’t do business with because they’re jerks.
Comics writers, if you aren't using your voice to uplift and recognize everyone collaborating with you on a story, you're wasting everyone's time. No script is so precious you cannot celebrate the artists and ensure you are spotlighting their work to the audience.
My parents didn't want me to speak or read spanish growing up. ESL classes were too advance for me, so I didn't bother. this affected my relationship with my nana maria. we didn't get along. she was frustrated that I couldn't never understand her.
she passed away last night.
I want to add that I wouldn’t have this opportunity without Top Cow. Matt Hawkins took a chance on me five years ago. They published two of my stories, gave me a platform to increase awareness of publishing more BIPOC, and listened to my ideas.
I’m forever grateful.
My first cousin, Cristobal Hector Barajas, tragically passed away last week. My family are unable to make ends meet let alone cover a funeral—and could use the financial assistance. Thank you for reading, donating, and sharing.
I’m heartbroken to find out that my friend Andy has passed away. He had a huge heart, amazing record collection, and great sense of humor. Andy will be missed by many.
I’ve had a bad credit score since I was 16. I got a credit card and did a cash advance to pay the rent that month. Tough pill to swallow when you’re failing high school. For the first time in my life, my credit score is near a 700. I honestly didn’t think it was possible.
