Congrats to Savanna Watts for winning Third Place Overall Undergraduate Presentation at the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Marine Mammal Symposium (SEAMAMMS) at the University of South Alabama! Savanna presented her research of the locomotor muscles of spinner dolphins.

Avery Olmstead, a student in Dr. Duina's lab, is working on a project to assess the genome-wide effects of mutations in chromosome components in yeast cells! Her work could provide insights to the molecular mechanisms in the neurodevelopmental disorder Bryant-Li-Bhoj syndrome.

Last week, Dr. Dearolf led her Biology of Movement students in a EMG lab where students recorded their bicep EMGs while holding books. This course is in workshop format in which class is a mix of lecture and applied exercises, allowing students to apply theory as they learn it.

Sharing Marine Mammal Science at SICB! Cooper Elliott (’23), a BCMB major and member of Dr. Jenn Dearolf’s Lab, presented a poster about his work on adult beluga whale locomotor muscles at the annual Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) meeting in Austin, Texas.

The Environmental Biology class sampled macroinvertebrates at Cadron Creek for the #freshwaterbiodiversity lab and examined the critters before releasing them back to the water. It was a beautiful day and @ShamindriT and the class enjoyed being out in the field! #funinthefield
