This is such a lovely tradition on an important day.
On this day 78 years ago, 156,000 soldiers landed in Normandy to liberate France during WWII.
Every year, French soldiers take sand from Omaha Beach and rub it onto the gravestones to give the letters a gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 American soldiers buried there.

I think it says a lot that Tom Cullen took the time to discuss the issues that Tudor fans might find disturbing with his character Thomas Seymour on Becoming Elizabeth. I am really glad he said something about the matter.

As someone who studies Medieval and Tudor England, I wish we had Coronation pageants and the King and Queen spending a night in the Tower of London to keep those traditions alive. I have always wondered what that must have been like.
