I've been thinking about the Totoro/Grave of the Fireflies double bill some more and actually I think it really helps explain a lot of the magic of Totoro. Totoro has very odd pacing for a kid's film, it starts off so slow. Just as you'd like it if you'd been devastated by GOTF.
