My former shamba boy left with some savings and 2 bodas & invested in ginger growing back home, he however mistimed the season & got a bad harvest. He sold a boda, topped up with a loan & went back the following season, he now owns 2 kamunyes. Luck follows the resilient.

Kenya lifts night curfew as they return to normalcy. Rwanda to allow concerts and night clubs to reopen for the fully vaccinated. Tanzania must be in it's '10th wave' since it never locked down. Uganda....... The Lord is our shepherd.

The era of the likes of Hajj Kawaase (Kibuli SS), Dr. Peregrine Kibuuka (Namilyango), Mr. Busulwa (Buddo) etc is long gone, these guys protected their students like their own children, poor or rich, you got similar treatment. Nowadays everything is a deal.

10-15yrs ago, a masters degree esp from UK almost guaranteed you a job in Uganda, now even a PhD can't. The jobs of tomorrow belong to those with skills not taught in school. - Emotional intelligence and networking.

A good salary may not be worth staying in a toxic work environment BUT before you throw in a towel, remember not having a job may be mentally worse than a toxic work environment and that it's easier to get a job when you have one. Rise over emotions. It's called adulting.

A degree is very important when you don't have it, but once you get it, then it's not good enough without a masters. Challenge is, once you get the masters, then booooom, you're over qualified for entry-level jobs and have no experience for senior jobs. It never ends....

One-Bedroom rentals are the best entry option for anyone looking to get into property investment space because they're cheaper to build, break-even in 5-6yrs and rarely run-out of tenants. Caution: You can't build cheap houses on expensive land and call it low-cost housing.

Have watched this young boy work for 4yrs as a helper at construction sites, saved enough to buy his boda boda and is now the go to errand guy for any errands, making more than 40k a day without sitting at a boda stage. Being trustworthy & reliable will earn you your place.

Uganda has come up with a new coffee law which among other provisions will require you to have a license to operate a coffee shop & prescribes a 2yr jail term if you dont look after your coffee garden well. This country specialises in putting solutions where there're no problems

I stopped at Shell to refuel & decided to pick a drink from the select shop, on exit, I entered my car and drove off, 10km later, I remembered I hadn't paid & came back to find the girl who had served me teary. Our small inconveniences could be someone else's trauma. #empathy

Seen school reports where 92% is now a D2, I think we continually push the narrative that excellence is about passing an exam but in the process kill curiosity and creativity. The system portrays any failure as fatal yet to be creative you must be willing to fail, many times.
