Teachers... I know you go to work for the students… but never underestimate the impact you have on your colleagues. Your attitude and your energy can inspire the adults around you to be better than they are. So you can make a difference for kids that you don’t even teach!

Before the holiday break, our 8th graders had a debate around the question “Once a person/group has power, will they always go to great lengths to keep it or get more?” Today’s events clearly provided more evidence for the affirmative.

Yes, I was pointing out that that the data shown does not actually lead to the conclusion that in person instruction is better. In person/at home is our reality, so let’s use the data to see which teachers/students need support.

@HasslerMichelle @TuckerMcClendon The first benchmark is a guide for teachers as they plan for & deliver great instruction - not a reflection on anybody’s teaching or learning. If I was a HCS virtual teacher or at- home parent - I might take offense at this.

@TuckerMcClendon I understand what you are trying to show, but if the “at home” students have always been students to under score on the assessments, then it makes sense they would continue. Actually they fell at similar rates to their in person peers. Also, in person math fell at a greater rate.

For some reason this gives the building more of a “high school” feeling. Just in time...we are only a few months away from having freshmen!

All teachers are learning so much right now! Like students, teachers sometimes need more than written directions. To provide a visual, I create a quick Loom video to explain tech issues.
