If the Shi'a of Lebanon were to abandon the Palestinian cause, the United States and Israel would offer them everything, and Lebanon could become one of the most developed nations in the world. However, our values, our faith, and our principles will never allow us to turn our backs on Palestine. While many Muslim nations have chosen to compromise their dignity for worldly gain, the Shi'a of Lebanon remain steadfast, upholding justice and standing by the oppressed. Our commitment is not for material benefit but for truth, honour, and the moral duty that defines us.

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the Syrian rebel group, recently launched an attack on a Lebanese village but is now facing a significant response. Notably, despite this aggression, Lebanon has not initiated an invasion of Syria. Interestingly, while Israel has conducted operations inside Syria, HTS has not engaged in direct conflict with them. This raises questions about the group's strategic priorities and alliances.

We do not ask others to respect our religion, as it is natural for individuals to view beliefs outside their own through the lens of their convictions. Instead, we expect proper conduct in discussions and interactions. Regarding the Agha Khan, he claimed a position that, from our perspective, was not granted to him by Allah. Just as others have the right to believe that Imam al-Kadhim falsely claimed Imamate, we equally have the right to assert that the Agha Khan’s claim to Imamate was unfounded. As Shi’a, our commitment to respect should never come at the cost of compromising our principles. We must engage in discourse with transparency, confidence, and clarity, standing firm in our beliefs without hesitation. However, extending condolences for someone we consider an innovator and a misguided claimant is not a stance we are obligated to take.

No amount of charity or devotion can justify Agha Khan’s claim to Imamate. Even if he were to worship Allah for a thousand years and fill the homes of the poor with gold, it would not alter the fact that he wrongfully assumed a position that is divinely appointed. Imamate is a status granted solely by Allah, and only He determines who holds this sacred role. This is a foundational truth in our tradition, one that allows no compromise. Good deeds must be grounded in correct belief. Shaykh al-Kulayni narrates with a reliable chain, from Imam al-Baqir (s): "[...] O Muhammad [b. Muslim], bear in mind properly that the unjust Imams and their followers are far away from the religion of Allah. They are lost and misleading. Their deeds that they do are like the dust blown by the winds away in a windy day, which would go out of hand without benefits. Thus is straying far away from the truth."

How can I find examples of Shi'a individuals in our community expressing condolences for the passing of Agha Khan, the "Imam" of the Isma'ili Shi'a? According to our theology, his claim to the position of Imam is not legitimate, as this status is exclusively reserved for the rightful Imams of Ahl al-Bayt. Consequently, he is regarded as having unjustly assumed a role that does not rightfully belong to him.

🔷️ The Trembling Hand That Wrote History 🔷️ Shaykh Baqir Sharif al-Qurashi: I saw Shaykh Agha Bozorg [al-Tehrani] using his chin to steady his trembling hand. One day, Sayyid Muhammad Taqi al-Hakim arrived with four college deans—one from Egypt, another from Tunisia, and a third from Beirut. They came to Najaf and found Shaykh Agha Bozorg sitting on a simple mat, writing. They asked him, "Are you Agha Bozorg?" He replied, "Yes." They said, "Shaykh, we know Iraq because of you and greatly respect Shaykh al-Tehrani, the author of al-Dhari‘a. And this is where you sit?!" He replied, "I do not care about appearances as much as I care about studying and writing."

Ahl al-Sunna claims that the Shi'a religion is a fabricated sect falsely attributed to the Ahl al-Bayt and that it originated from the fabrications of the people of Kufa. Yet, a significant portion of narrators who transmitted from Imam al-Baqir and al-Sadiq in Ahl al-Sunna's hadith collections are themselves from Kufa. Furthermore, many of these narrators have been labelled as unreliable or even liars by Ahl al-Sunna's own scholars. I will leave the reader to connect the dots.
