We are delighted to share the report of our recent Ofsted inspection, in which we are officially judged as a good school with outstanding features. Please read the report at
We are so proud of this gorgeous piece of artwork produced by one of our very creative children. It brought a tear to our eye and has captivated the current climate beautifully. What a precious and treasured memory to keep forever!

Our lovely Reception class prepared a sweet farewell to their Year 6 buddies today by learning and singing 'You've Got a Friend in Me.' Our Year 6 class were very touched. Thank you Reception Ladybird class.
What a fantastic week it has been. It’s been an absolute pleasure to spend it with such a bright, bubbly, kind and engaged bunch of children. Very proud teacher returning to Harpenden Academy for a wonderful year ahead !
After sailing all morning, having a picnic on the beach, playing games in the sand and finding jellyfish Lottie shouted" This is the best day of my life EVER"
A huge thank you to the very wonderful Mrs Duncan who has loved the children like her own all week- playing, laughing, chatting, hugging, coaching, supporting, encouraging and hot chocolate making. Our Shakespeare Dream Team would not be complete without you THANK YOU!
The birthday boy has had an awesome day including a mega chocolate cake, numerous ‘embarrassing’ renditions of happy birthday and a surprise room party organised by his classmates. Definitely a birthday to remember!
Last photos of today’s sailing and powerboating activities. We’ve had a great day so far and about to go out on our night walk after a yummy dinner enjoyed by all!

The start of our Jubilee celebrations- let the singing start and let the scones flow! It's time to celebrate and make lasting memories for our children.
On Saturday our very own Harpenden Academy elves wrapped almost 200 gifts, generously donated by HA families to make Xmas day full of joy & hope for children who are currently living in care. The children (and parents) worked tirelessly all morning to wrap and label the gifts
Incredibly proud of HA at district sports today. Our best performance ever! Lots of children coming in the top 3 and reaching their final. An extra congratulations to Rhian, who won the Y6 100m

Football success for our Year 3 & Year 4 boys' football team. The boys did the school proud and they showed great determination and sportmanship winning 3 of their 4 matches against local schools and making it into the semi-finals for the first time! Well done!
All at Harpenden Academy are saddened to hear of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She lived a life of service to our Nation. A life full of the virtues, wisdom and quiet dignity we should all aspire to follow. We extend our condolences to the Royal Family.
Year 4 have enjoyed their first day back at school. We have played socially distanced games, written reports, created 'lockdown' monsters and celebrated our positive experiences together. I am very proud of how beautifully motivated the children have come back. Well done Year 4!
Postman Pat letters have arrived from Dahl class parents, children have loved the messages and now ready to go out kayaking and to enjoy team building games ⛵️

Good morning from a very rainy Norfolk! Year six did brilliantly for their first night. All asleep by 11 and up between 6-7am dressed and raring to go! Enjoying breakfast.
A huge thank you from myself and the children to the wonderful Susan who has spent the week with us - throwing herself enthusiastically (and competitively!) into every single activity and supporting and nurturing the children fantastically. We’re so grateful for you.
Obstacle course: we were asked to tell a joke or link together and walk across an elevated zigzag platform making chicken noises. If this was designed to test our ability to work as a team, be brave, resilient, patient, uninhibited and have a sense of humour , we nailed this!
Harpenden Academy loved their first ever eco march. We are very proud of our children for standing up for all of our futures. What an amazing and powerful community event

Volleyball: Saphirra for terrific teamwork and most improved player. Initiative exercises: Anayo for engaged and assertive leadership. Rock climbing: Rosie for showing courage and determination. Team games: Leigh for resilience and quiet determination
Miss Alshamari sharing her refugee story with Year six, explaining how she had to disguise as a boy to travel to the UK and showing empathy with Floella Benjamin for her experience moving to a new culture.

- quote of the day from Jayden as he got off the coach, 'I just want to keep doing this again and again!' Just sitting down to lunch having a munch and a crunch.
Super fun (and once again wet!) morning of sailing, giant stand up paddle boarding and raft building. We literally cannot believe the continued enthusiasm, commitment and resilience of these children despite starting sessions in sight shoes and soaking clothing. They all rock!
"Be the best you can be" was the message from Jason Robinson this morning when he came to Harpenden Academy. Thank you for inspiring the children- and adults- in our school community.
Good morning! A much much better night. Its almost 7am and not a peep from our snoozy children. The sun has risen on our sailing day and our sailing boats are ready for the day ahead- even if the children aren't yet!
Another day dawns ! The peace and tranquility of the dawn will soon be disturbed by 31 little munckins getting ready to sail.
A whole day of sailing lies ahead and the weather looks great.
Lovely morning making fruit kebabs in the sunshine discussing the importance of vitamins, including vitamin D, in keeping us healthy and boosting our immune system. “Fruit is protecting us from getting the virus by giving us vitamins.”
Such a special leavers’ celebration for our gorgeous Year Six children. They shared their amazing three course meals with their families, played, sang and hopefully felt very loved my us all. Year Six you will be missed…
