@EMDocJB Although I agree, please keep focused on the #basics first. Immediate recognition, initiation of BLS, early defibrillation (AED) and high quality ALS are fundamental in OHCA. Only after this, a prehospital ECMO program is indicated. As HEMS, we also have a role in this.

@DYannopoulos @SayreMR @ARREST_study Yes, I agree. These were excluded from our study because we focussed on the same patient population as the DOSE-VF trial. Of all shockable OHCA, 27% met inclusion criteria (shocks at 3 consecutive rhythm checks and still/again VF at 4th check).

@SayreMR @ARREST_study Thanks Michael! And great question. Our population is 2.6 million and we included 4 years of data with 4993 OHCA’s. Of these, 22 (0,44%) cases had true refractory VF. So for your setting, this would lead to an expected 1.6 cases per year.
