The petition not only highlights the lack of public participation but the ambiguity around whether amendments are meant to complement or repeal the provisions of section 9A of the Registration of Persons Act that served as a legal basis for the NIIMS(Huduma Namba).

In Kenya, people in their 20’s, 30s, 40s, and even 50s are still waiting for their IDs because of ID vetting. We have people over 50 years waiting for IDs in Dagoretti, Nyeri, Garissa, Wajir, Nairobi and other areas.

Suleiman Abdul Mwangi lives in Riruta, Nairobi. He first applied for his national ID in 2003. 21 years later, he still hasn't obtained the vital document due to vetting. Over 5 million Kenyans have no way of proving their identity due to ID vetting.#MyIDMyRight #EndIDVetting
