If implemented fully, @bloodinquiry recommendations will improve the safety and quality of healthcare for everyone in the UK. This is a positive start, but govt must do more to listen to those at the heart of this scandal, especially on compensation.

Today the Haemophilia Society, along with 30 other groups, got four minutes to explain to Cabinet Office minister @NickTorfaen why there is so much concern and anxiety about the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme. Is the govt listening? We think not.

Warning to govt today from @bloodinquiry Chair over its handling of infected blood compensation. Sir Brian Langstaff says concern over the way it is being managed has developed to the extent that should make 'any objective observer deeply uncomfortable'.

@BBCNews Thanks for highlighting this. It is hard to overstate the anxiety that any issue with an interim compensation payment has on the infected blood community as a whole. There is very little trust in government for historic reasons, and this confusion will not help to restore it.

Bereaved families who've had their long overdue interim compensation claims approved and a payment date set, now face 'further checks' with no idea when they will get their compensation. Thanks @BBCNews and @jim_reed for highlighting this deeply concerning development.

Today we think of everyone infected with HIV/AIDS as a result of receiving contaminated NHS treatment for haemophilia and other bleeding disorders. The stigma around this condition continues to blight lives and must end. @NAT_AIDS_Trust

Bereaved families who were told their long-awaited interim infected blood compensation payment was approved have now had their claims rejected following unpublicised guidance from @cabinetofficeuk. We want @NickTorfaen to tell us why.

The 'need for speed' in delivering compensation to victims of the contaminated blood scandal is 'absolutely paramount' says @NickTorfaen, but was told by @IanLaveryMP in a Commons debate on @bloodinquiry that progress is still 'painfully, painfully slow'.

David Foley, @IBCA_UK interim Chief Executive, told our BGT conference today that his organisation has so far recruited 31 case managers to deal with compensation claims. They are 'problem solvers' not 'assessors', he said, and will be 'supportive and encouraging'.

David Foley, interim chief executive @IBCA_UK is at our Big Get-Together to answer questions on compensation. He said offers of full compensation would start to be made to IBCA's first trial group of 20 from next week but is aware of 'frustration' about lack of progress.

Sir Brian Langstaff, chair of @bloodinquiry has criticised the government for excluding siblings who were over 18 when their brother or sister was infected from claiming compensation. In a letter to @NickTorfaen he said this was not what he recommended.
