What about customers without data or WhatsApp such as the elderly?
Customer care is also asking me to verify a phone number that I'm already talking to them on in whatsapp? 🥴

The issue isn't with technology, it's with the poor regulation and enforcement of the transportation service.
The telcos can't realistically block the platforms because it's too easy to get around the telco using lots of well known technology.

Leaving Jamaica to live and work in a properly developed country (🇩🇪) made me realize so much how people are being INTENTIONALLY disadvantaged here.

Sure but ride sharing apps are not the problem.
The problem is drivers who are unfit for public transport (rapists, murders, sex offenders, etc) & the poor monitoring & regulation.
The same type of incident happens almost every week with public taxis but we don't ban taxis.
