The School's Board of Directors are delighted to announce the appointment of Lise Hudson as the School’s new Rector.
Mrs Hudson, who is currently Deputy Rector, will take up the post in January 2020, after the retirement of present Rector Dr John Halliday.

A busy morning for our L7s! After teambuilding games at the hotel, they visited the Village des Métiers d'Art de Desvres for print/ceramics/woodworking workshops.
They paused briefly for a photo before lunch on the beach and next is the high ropes course at Parc Opalaventure! 🇫🇷
An exciting and poignant day for our L7s in France.
In a market mission, they used their French skills to buy lunch from the stalls of Étaples. They then carried out an act of remembrance at the graves of the 4 HSD FPs who are buried in the Étaples Military Cemetery. 🇫🇷
Some of our talented musicians were thrilled to show their support for NHS workers by performing this evening. Pupils joined fellow musicians across Scotland in playing Somewhere Over the Rainbow as part of the campaign, We Make Music for the NHS. Well done everyone!

Ethan McColgan has been shortlisted for the GCSE/National 5 category of the awards, which every year identify and celebrate individuals who have excelled within British education.
At HSD, our Care Hub is allowing the children of key workers to be looked after, enabling their parents to continue their essential work in the response to COVID-19.
We’d like to say a big thank you to our staff for enabling us to run this vital service.
On Monday, we won’t just be welcoming our pupils back after the summer holidays, we’ll be welcoming them back into school for the first time in 5 months.

A High School of Dundee teacher has been awarded a Medal of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year's Honours List.
Congratulations to Irene McGrath who is to receive the BEM in recognition of her services to Scottish schools debating.
The School has marked Remembrance with its traditional Armistice Parade and Service.
In tribute to all those members of the HSD community and beyond who have died in all armed conflicts, the CCF and Pipe Band completed a parade in front of the school.

Congratulations to Oliver Walker who has danced his way to a place on Scottish Ballet’s Junior Associate Programme!
Over 400 children auditioned on Zoom for just a few places and after demonstrating all the right moves Oliver was invited to join the P6 class.

An HSD pupil has completed an impressive cross-Tay swim at the age of just 11!
Ksenia Mann recently swam from Broughty Ferry to Tayport, finishing the near mile-long challenge in 32 minutes and 44 seconds.
