In the spirit of the Met Gala’s fundraiser for The Costume Institute, we have decided to make the HF Twitter Met Gala a fundraising event. We acknowledge that fashion is a form of escapism and that this is meant to be a lighthearted event, but we cannot ignore our reality.
What's worse: real fur or faux fur?
Real fur involves animal cruelty, but faux fur has a huge environmental impact and is a strong polluter. Both involve worker exploitation, where do you stand in this debate?
Our hearts are broken after hearing the news of Thierry Mugler’s passing. He brought so much wonder and artistry to fashion, and is a large part of why fashion is taken seriously as an art form today. Thank you Monsieur Mugler and rest in peace 🤍🕊

Head Curator of the Met, Andrew Bolton, was inspired by the scene in Orlando (a film adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel) where Orlando experiences time travel as she runs through a maze, resulting in an outfit change from 18th century dress to 19th century dress.
