'Parents are extremely positive about every aspect of the school and the overwhelming majority would recommend the school to others’ OFSTED inspection 2019 💙
Amazing to see one our ex-pupils doing so well and smashing it! Fully deserved- fantastic lad in his time with us. And playing for the greatest football team too…😬

We said farewell to our Year 6 today who have been utterly brilliant in the most bizarre and quite unique times. Their understanding, compassion, empathy, kindness, positivity and maturity has helped everyone get through the last few months. They will be sorely missed 💙
Wow! Hard to say goodbye to so many families and children who have been with us for 7 years and more. You will be missed. For our families who are moving on, your support, partnership, loyalty and kindness will be missed. To our Year 6s- you are the future. Aim high. Dream big x
An incredibly emotional, unique and intense year comes to an end.Our children have left happy, safe and proud, ready for family time and a chance to relax- fully well deserved. We could not be prouder of them. A massive goodbye and hug to our Year 6s too-you will be amazing 💙
The panto was just stunning today- thank you so much to the Highwoods PTA for funding all of the coaches- over £2000 for the transport. The children had the best time. Massive thank you to Mrs Corton who organised it brilliantly 🤗💙
Well that was a normal day 😬Thank you to all the children, staff, governors and parents who supported the school so well today. The outcome from our OFSTED inspection will be announced in a couple of weeks. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Now the children know, we can really celebrate our results this year. 73% combined reading, writing and maths- national average is 59%. We are so proud of each and every child- amazing progress since joining in Foundation Stage 7 years ago. 💙
Children have settled really well this morning. Great atmosphere today-
just amazing to have so many children back. Thank you to our parents this morning helped make the first day so smooth. 💙
Couldn’t have been prouder of staff, children and families today. Lots of tough decisions were made but everyone was polite, calm and sensitive. The children who were in were well looked after- staff were amazing, kind and professional. Sometimes the best thing is routine. 💙
Our Yr6 SATs this year are just fabulous- we’ll above national standards. We are at 92% for reading, when the National is 75%. We are 90% for grammar, when the National is 78%. Our maths is 84%, when the National is 76%. Worth noting they raised the pass mark this year too 😡
Well done everyone for getting to half term-that includes all of our fabulous children and staff in school, plus our incredible children, parents and staff learning and working from home. So proud of you all. Be kind to yourself this half term and try to make some time to relax💙
If anyone doubts what can be achieved when schools and parents work together, just look at this last 18 months. Incredible to see and feel a community pull together to help children thrive, even in the toughest circumstances. 🤗
Stunning week in school. 98% attendance and a real buzz of learning. Children looked content, eager to learn and so happy to be playing with friends. 💙
Phoned lots of parents today to check in on grown ups and talk to the children. Brilliant hearing them doing well and keeping safe. Particular liked the ‘love you’ scream down the phone from one child as we said goodbye! 😂💙
Children all slept pretty well (super hot) - no tears- odd little reassuring hug needed but lots of smiles this morning- some tired eyes too! Breakfast in half an hour!
I’m a very proud headteacher. Our results this year stand out across Essex but more importantly our children continue to be the most fun, vibrant, curious, insightful, nurturing and caring young people they can be. Thanks to all the staff for continuing to give everything x
Another term done ✅ Hoping everyone stays safe and well over the festive period. We couldn’t be prouder of our children this year- they are truly amazing. Work is already underway to make our school even better next year! 💙
So proud of our school team and community this week. Nearly a hundred children in as key workers and some incredible home learning taking place too. Hope everyone is safe and now time for a few days rest before we go again next week! 💙
Want to send out a big thank you to all of the staff who have made this week possible. Tough week with this horrible bug but it’s almost gone! Special thank you to the cleaning team who have blitzed the school every day and the office staff who have fielded hundreds of calls 🤢🤮
Thank you to everyone who came to the carols tonight. 3 out of 4 microphones decided to die on us tonight but the show went on. Next year we will have new mics, surround sound and seating- plus children on show so all families can see. Merry Christmas x
Visit today from Headteacher of another school. ‘Inspiring...lovely relationships between children and adults...hard working children...positive and happy children...wonderful school’. Amazing feedback to get about what we are doing at Highwoods. X
Thank you to everyone who joined in to support Dwarfism Awareness Day. Special thank you to Rico and his family for guiding and educating so many of us.
