Investigative Reporter Barış Pehlivan is detained on live tv this afternoon. After Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu revealed the name of the expert who wrote reports about Esenyurt and Beşiktaş Municipalities which mayors are investigated for fraud and are being tried in prison. Barış Pehlivan gave a right of response in his Halk TV program to the expert and therefore is being investigated together with the anchor of the program Seda Selek and the TV responsible manager Serhan Asker. All three journalists are now in Istanbuk's Vatan Police HQ. The charges are "listening to and recording conversations between individuals" and "attempting to influence an expert". CHP Leader Özgür Özel and Istanbul Mayor İmamoğlu have called this an attempt to silence media and an clear violation of democratic values.

Journalist Şirin Payzın is being investigated for ‘terrorist propaganda.’ She does not know yet what triggered the investigation. According to the seasoned journalist, she did not receive the written convocation but she will be giving her deposition imminently.
