A note to any visitors from out of town this week: the closest thing we have to chili with cinnamon in it is our Hungarian beef gulasch. The main difference is that our gulasch is actually delicious and not a disgusting abomination against humanity.
We aren't (and have never been) a German restaurant, but that didn't stop multiple local news outfits from contacting us about the impact of the Chiefs playing in Frankfurt on our business. Journalism is alive and well. Go Chiefs!
We would like to thank all of our loyal patrons for never scoffing or acting like petulant children as we have enforced our pants mandate. We know it is heavy handed and restrictive to demand that you wear pants throughout your visit and we thank you for your compliance.
A special Happy New Year to Chuck S. who emailed us this afternoon to say, "Take your Russian restaurant and leave ,go to your own country !"
Cheers to you Chuck!
Hidden amongst our recent 5 star reviews were a couple of two star gems. So, in response, we will now be turning our lights up all the way, increasing the font size on our menu to 22pt, offering kids menus & crayons, and, most importantly, our servers will try to be less snobby.
Brady lost. Rodgers lost. AND our
@Chiefs
won the greatest game in playoff history to host the 4th consecutive AFC championship game. Is this real life?
We will open tomorrow at 4pm for any
@Bengals
fans still in town. We will offer all of our entrees salt-free and you can use your tears to salt them to your taste.
Well, our 10 year anniversary came and went during the shut down. Stay tuned here for information about our kitchen getting back to work and how we will celebrate once it's safe for us and our great guests. Thanks for 10 great years, Kansas City. Here's to the next 10!
We would be happy to share our own anecdotal evidence about the transformative power of the
@kcstreetcar
with any of our pals along the proposed expansion route. If it's empirical data you are looking for, we recommend this book.
If you would like to leave the house, but don't really want to hear a drunk girl named Megan loudly telling someone what county in Ireland her grandmother came from, we will be open at 4pm.
Happy National Wiener Schnitzel Day, everyone. In honor of this momentous day we will be offering all three of our schnitzel varieties at full price from open to close.
You heard us right! That's 0% off schnitzels from 11am to 10pm today.
It is hard to imagine that 8 years have passed since we opened our doors. That is, until we look around and see that our beautiful neighborhood has grown in leaps & bounds around us. We love
@KCMO
@KCCrossroads
and, most importantly, our wonderful guests. Danke!
If you don't already realize what just happen, then let it wash over you in the next few days. The
@Chiefs
just played one of the most amazing games in football history. Our great city deserves nights like this.
We are not a German restaurant but, in honor of the thousands of people who think we are, we would like to acknowledge the clinic that Germany is putting on at
#EuroCup2020
. ⚽️🥅
Schnitzel Quarterly called and said they wanted us to be restaurant of the year, but they'd need a free bucket of Jäger sauce to make it happen. We told them, "Nein danke! We don't do free sauce buckets."
It has been nice to see our restaurant with people in it again. Thank you to everyone who has come in to support us so far. It means so much more than you know.
Shout out to the gentleman who mentioned in his review that, even though he could easily cut his pork with the knife in his roll-up, the lack of a steak knife was an oversight on our part.
This is the kind of insightful and abundantly helpful feedback that really helps us grow.
Giving an A+ rating to almost all of the
@BuffaloBills
fans who visited our restaurant this weekend. Great tippers, courteous and happy to be here. Best out of town fans we've seen so far.
That being said, here's hoping that the
@Chiefs
break their hearts today.
Our Austrian food is so good that we were voted best German restaurant by the readers of
@TheFastPitch
. Hey, we'll take it and we appreciate the love.
Urban resilience expert Michael Berkowitz is looking for signs of how communities will survive the aftermath of Covid-19, as well as for opportunities to strengthen resilience now in the face of social and economic disruption. He speaks to us from NYC.
Friendly reminder that our mini Christmas market is fully stocked- gift cards, housemade cookies, imported treats, shirts, glassware, house mustard, and more. And, unlike most other stores, you can have a beer while you shop!
It amazing to think that, as Union Station was being built in 1914, The Freighthouse was already over a quarter of a century old. We are so lucky to be in such a beautiful and historic part of our great city.
